Experiences/info/opinions on plant-based HRT

Is Activella plant-based? Is there another similar treatment?
My OB/Gyn has suggested Activella, however it's not on my
insurance formulary. Does anyone know of other treatments
that might be covered? I want plant-based.
My bone density shows I have moderately reduced. I'm
considering a bone only treatment. I just went off the pill
5 months ago and feel more energetic than ever. And no hot
flashes or mood swings. I don't want to mess with a good thing.
However, I wonder if I might even feel better if I take something.
I'm so confused. I don't want to risk cancer - I'm already a
high risk(My mom has it now and her mom died with it).
How long after beginning treatment should I expect to see a
change? I know everyone is different. I'm reading The Pause.
I like to hear personal experiences.

Thanks everyone, in advance.

to HRT or not HRT

what a question!!! Activella is synthetic HRT, not plant based. Are you only going on it for bone health and to build density? If so I would be more inclined to recommend taking Fosamax or Actonel as that is that ONLY thing they do without increasing breast cancer or cardiovascular risk (can cause GI problems though, follow the directions carefully) Although I can't provide any personal experience, I get this question all the time and if you are having any other menopausal symptoms and prefer to try plant based, inquire about bioidentical hormone replacement, ask your health care provider or compounding pharmacist.
HRT isn't something to just take for prevention anymore, I know some gynecologists don't agree but most women (esp. ones who are asymptomatic as far as menopause) would prefer not to increase their breast cancer risk.
hope this helps
