Exercising survey

Hi, all,

I am currently exercising 5 times/week but am also trying to lose weight. I'm doing a rotation of lower body, cardio, upper body, cardio, lower body each week (and then the following week it would be 2 UB and 1 LB).

I'm just wondering how much you all work out, what your rotation is, and (if any of you are losing weight), is your routine working?

Thanks so much!
Chrissy

PS- I also heard once that once you reach "maintenance" weight, you don't have to work out as many days in the week anymore????

Hi Chrissy,

I need to loose a few pounds myself. I had a personal trainer for years but didn't re-sign after my contract was up. That was back in April and unfortunately, I didn't keep up with my w/o's on my own. I can't tell you how much my body shape changed just from the lack of strength training!! That's how I ended up on this forum--I needed the motivation that this site provides (thanks everybody). Left to my own devices I'm a real slacker.}(

Right now I'm following the beg/intermediate rotation because that's where I'm at in terms of cardio, and those are the only Cathe DVD's I have. I go heavier on the weight. This rotation gives you cardio days off but I try to do some cardio every day. I find that I need to do cardio 5 -6 days a week to loose weight. It doesn't help that I'm 50 and post menopausal.

Good luck and I hope your program works for you.:)

Hey Chrissy.. I am doing the Butts and Guts Sept rotation and I am only in the second week but I am seeing more definition in my legs. My core is certainly benefiting also since I have a tendency to neglect my core and not work it as much as I should. I haven't had DOMS this bad in a long time! It is a six days on, one day off rotation but so far I haven't found it to be too much.

Everyone is different, so you will get very different opinions on this, my prediction.

Food intake was a bigger influence on my weight loss than cardio. I lost weight on light cardio, heavy on weights rotation but controlling my eating, a la weight watchers. I was very very strict with my portion control.

If you add more cardio, you can eat more though.

Once I reached my maintenance weight, I did not have trouble maintaining it without being so restrictive with my eating.

If you control your food intake, you won't be so dependent on not skipping workouts. In my very busy life, that works for me. Others might prefer heavy cardio so they can indulge more.

i like to workout 5-6 days a week. this is the first time i am doing any cathe rotation. i can't really comment on any of my routines working b/c my eating is still something i am working on. there was a particular time when i was doing one body part a day with 30-60 mins cardio 5 times a week with power yoga everynight and severe cut in calories i lost a lot of weight but i felt so weak and got sick often so i figured that whatever i was doing was not to healthy for me.

as for this month i am seeing some results but i think if i watch my portions more i can really see the results better. i have naturally big thighs and hips and my thighs have been looking a bit smaller and its only been 2 weeks into the rotation for me. its also good to change up your routines/rotations so your body doesn't adapt, then its like just going through the motions of working out.
