Exercise ?

Cathlete
I didn't exercise as much as I should have during my first pregnancy, and since I am newly pregnant, I would like to continue to exercise during this pregnancy. I have a few exercise ?'s for you, and hopefully you can help me with some answers!!!
-Can I do ab exercises? I really don't know.
-Can I lift weights (like the weights in Cathe DVDs-I have most)?
-Can I run?
I didn't go to the dr. yet to ask those questions, so any advice would be very much appreciated. I know to listen to my body and to take care of myself. I just want to be as healthy and strong as I can be through this pregnancy.
Thanks!
-Jen

OK first, obviously, check with your doctor first.

To address the rest, for me and what I've seen...

-I think this is a personal choice. Some would say yes, and some no. Perhaps some other ladies can weigh in? I've stopped doing them myself, as it's really uncomfortable for me.

-Yes, as long as it feels good. I'm 20 weeks and still lifting like I did pre-pregnancy.

-Yes, if you ran before, many women have continued running through most of their pregnancies until it became uncomfortable.

Hope that helps!

Congrats jen on your pregnancy!

I did ab work during my pregnancy. I want to say i read somewhere its okay to do back lying excercises until about 20 weeks. You can lift weights and run just as before. I found running to be uncomfortable so i didnt do that much. I did lift weights like i did before during the first half of my pregnancy. You will know what feels comfortable or not and just dont over do it.

Goodluck
