exercise-induced dementia?

In what I can only explain as endorphin overload or something, I was so excited by my progress in the past two weeks that I did a really heavy round of SH legs and shoulders. Now my quads are killing me!!! And I live in an 8 story house with TONS of stairs! I've stretched, massaged and whined quite a bit, but I'm interested in how to get past the pain and back into daily functions. DH suggested repeating the same workout extremely lightly - ie with no weights. Any other ideas?

Take a couple of ibuprophens (they will help the inflammation) and doing a light workout again will help.

Continue to stretch. Do some hip flexor stretches, you know the ones where you stand on one leg & hold the foot of the other leg. Push that pretty hard. I also agree with your dh. Try doing some squats without weights. Just 5 or 6 ought to do it.

The only thing is that you will have to do it a million times a day until the burn works itself out. It works for me.

Some things that help me are eating a bunch of raw pineapple, taking a warm bath and stretching the muscle while it's warm, like from the bath or some fast walking. Be careful not to overdo it! Ibuprofen is good too, but it's amazing what pineapple and it's bromelain seem to do for me.

Wow, you live in an 8-story house.
I did the same thing, but with PS-Legs. I have never been in so much pain. I don't know why that happened. I have done it since and it hasn't been a problem. I took a lot of hot baths and got in the hot tub. It was not fun. I hope you feel better.

THank you all, I survived, and I did do the stretching and no weight squats. Beleive it or not I think all the stairs helped. (Yes it is 8 stories - to maximize the view)
