Excited!! - Kettlebell instruction this weekend!

So with all this talk about kettlebells....

I just started using kettlebells this week with the AOS Providence DVD, and really love it, then people started posting about the amazing and even surprising results they are getting with KB workouts. So I'm getting even more interested in using kettlebells. But I'm concerned my form might not be right and of course I want to get the most out of my workouts.

Soooo... I googled KB instructors in NJ this morning and found one, Tom Phillips, he is apparently rated quite highly in the world of KB instructors and I set up an appointment with him for this Saturday for an hour and a half! :D

I'm so excited, I thought this would be a great way to really jump start a new workout and make sure I'm doing everything right, have the correct weights, etc.

The only negative, the gym is 1.5 hours away from me, so this will most likely be just the one time visit to learn the proper form.

I'll post back after the weekend and let you know how it went.

Sounds like fun!

1.5 hours isn't that bad, IMO. I took a workshop from a guy 2 hours from me. It was a drive, but it was well worth it, IMO. (Two things I was doing wrong : not getting the bell back far enough between my legs in swings--it's almost a 'pooping out the KB' position!-- and having a tendency to put my hands on my waist for some moves: something that's done in other types of workouts, but is frowned upon with KB's).

Enjoy!

It's a great idea to get some live instruction if you can! Tneah and I took a three-week session with Lauren Brooks, and it was so great to get those small form pointers! Small tweaks to your form make a big difference.

Keep us posted on what your session is like!:)

How many of us have gotten injured because we didn't fully understand the proper form on a move and then didn't understand we'd done it to ourselves after doing the move wrong for so long? Being clear on proper form from the start is going to make the drive worth it.
