Excercise Routine question...

Hello all, I need some help please. I have been working out for about the last 4 or 5 months continuously. Usually 6 days a week, sometimes 5. I need to get more dvds because I have been lifting weights to push pull and supersets for the past 3 months. I also ride my upright bike for 35-45 minutes. I usually lift 3 days and ride 3 days (rotating each day). My question is... should I be lifting more, riding more or both or what? I do have a 1 year old so time is a bit of any issue. Also, can anyone make suggestions on dvds. I dont like step aerobics (which why I have a bike) and I also need a video for my abs. So, if anyone has a suggestion on a good workout routine for me, I would really appreciate it.

I'm not an expert but I agree that it's probably time to switch up your routine. I think 3 days cardio and 3 days weights is fine but doing the same thing over and over leads to fitness plateaus and risks overuse injury as you are performing the same things over and over. Since you are doing total body workouts I'd suggest adding the Pyramid Upper/Lower DVD to your collection. Doing a split weight routine would be something different to shock your body. You could do PUB one day, PLB another and finish with PP or SS for your third weights day. You also couldn't go wrong with the Gym Style series (3 DVDs) if you want to do a 3 day split. As for cardio I'd suggest Kick, Punch & Crunch. It fits the bill for your request for non-step and an abs workout. Kick Max and Cardio Kicks are good too! If I were you (I'm assuming with a growing 1 year old you don't have a ton of $$ lying around to spend!) I'd buy the Pyramids and Kick, Punch & Crunch (which also has Legs & Glutes) and do a rotation like:

Day 1: Pyramid Upper (this has a really good ab routine too!)
Day 2: Cycle
Day 3: Pyramid Lower
Day 4: Kick Punch & Crunch
Day 5: Supersets or Push Pull
Day 6: Walk or jog pushing the little one in the stroller
Day 7: Rest

You could always sub Pyramid Lower with Legs & Glutes for variety. Also make sure you check out the premixes on SS/PP (like Upper body 3 sets and Lower body 3 sets...you can do a split routine with the DVD you already have!).

I hope this helps and I bet some of the more experienced members will chime in with additional ideas/suggestions. :)
