That the d@mn UPS man makes more noise at the door when you're trying to "sneak" in more videos or equipment?
I can actually hear my UPS man's truck (squeeky breaks) when it pulls up, so I have time to get to the door before he rings if hubby is home and I've made some "haven't discussed this with you yet purchase."
But no dude didn't sprint to the door last night like Superman before I could get there, and not only did he ring the bell, he did the "cop knock!" (the loud forceful, repeated, hurry up and answer knock), so hubby hears it as well, and comes to the step to see "what's wrong?" And here I am taking in 2 boxes, my 8# medicine ball and some tubing (been wanting to try resistance tubing for a while and since I was ordering anyway?...)
I felt like a heel! We had JUST agreed that for the next few months we were going to limit "unnecessary" spending in order to pay off 2 credit cards! He was going to make no PS 2 game purchases and I committed to no fitness purchases for 3 months (with the exception of the mini step! He knows I'm all over that when it hits!)
Now I should feel badly because I made the purchase, but I'm really feeling "salty" because the UPS man busted me! All would have been well in my world if he had just used a little discretion! Did he HAVE to knock like the house was on fire?
But luckily, hubby is such a sweetie he laughed it off!

I really have to sit my UPS man down and have a talk with him some day. He's done that on so many occasions, and always when I've "over purchased" and have videos coming in from numerous sites at one time! Luckily, there's nothing else I want yet, except for that mini step!

Ha Donna!

Did you ever think it might be YOUR fault??? I think your UPS man knows he better "knock & run" before you attack him???? I can relate. I know the feeling. I had very little time to warn my hubby that I have the Troy Lite system coming to my home via UPS. I ordered it late yesterday and it is being delivered tomorrow! (Woo-Hooo!) Soooo, when Dave came home late last night from out of town, he picked up a fitness catalogue we got in the mail and was leafing thru it. I took the opportunity to say/warn him I was buying myself something!!! Of course I had to use the "excuse" since we both are working out together now, we needed MORE equipment for all the quick changes in PLB & PUB! He barely flinched. Guess he's getting use to OUR addiction. Aren't they sweeties? Enjoy your purchases. A very healthy gift to ourselves! :7

Donna,
where did you order your medicine ball from? Do they ship to Canada.I cannot for the life of me find a ball that isn't more then 3 pounds. And the places that I do find them don't ship to Canada.
I would like to have most of the equipment before my DVD's arrive.

Hi Lori,

I got mine from fwonline.com it was $37. + shipping ($6.) and was here in 1 day! I couldn't believe the fast service!

There were other sites with them like power-systems.com but fwonline was a few dollars cheaper so I went with them.

DH always laughs it off, but I sometimes feel bad because we also are working on paying down debt. (For the past year, I've been budgeting in the tapes, but before that, I would try to "sneak" them in.)

My UPS guy honks his horn on the way up the drive! I'm lucky though,he always comes around 3:30pm when hubby is at work. ;-) However, I usually have to tell my daughter not to say anything to Daddy until I have a chance to! :) Susan

Yes! And, I'm beginning to think that my UPS man has a crush on DH, since he only comes when DH's truck is in the drive. DH doesn't come home at a certain time, it could be anytime, but that dang UPS truck only pulls in after he's gotten home!!!

And, if UPS happens to come by when DH isn't home (and I swear, UPS guy has a tear in his eye), then of course my little girls excitedly tell DH about Mommy's new videos. They are so happy for me and I guess that's my fault...I always act like I just won the lottery when a delivery arrives. LOVE THOSE PACKAGES!!

Donna - you need to put a sign on your door "Knock quietly please! Sneaky activities going on."

I used to get my videos delivered to work so I could sneak them home. Now isn't that sad??? It's not like my DH would be all that mad I bought them. I just felt guilty because I knew I shouldn't spend the money. :)

Call my marriage weird, but we never order anything without first discussing it. I'm the "accountant" in our family and I know what our finances look like and I would be pissed if DH did that to me especially since we are trying to pay off a car loan, should be paid off in March. I do make a few exceptions once in a while so he is not totally deprived, but we both know what is more important and we want to eliminate our debts. Shame on you! You should be ashamed of yourself. It has helped us with our budget by getting an allowance every pay day to spend however we like. I know if sounds juvenile, but it works. Maybe you should give it a try.

Okay, don't everyone attack me at once.

kristi................

That's what's so sad about this! I AM our accountant and it was MY bright idea to "tighten the budget belt" even more in order to quickly pay down these 2 cards so when I "took liberties" it was suppose to be a "well, it won't really hurt anything" type of thing.
But normally we both make our fun purchases out of our "allowances" and hubby really is better than me because he may buy 2 new games at 1 time and spend $100. but then won't make another purchase for 6 months or more. Me~it's a different story! I often use his allowance along with mine! :)

But you're right, "bad Donna (slapping my hands right now!)" and I'm not making another unauthorized purchase until those cards are paid off, or Cathe makes new videos, which ever comes first! :)

I've noticed that I seem to have developed the keen hearing of predator when if comes to hearing the brakes on the UPS driver's van.

[That's "brakes," folks.;0]

As my husband said today, it's a game. I pretend to sneak them in, he pretends to be shocked.

(I'm the "accountant" too, but the allowance doesn't really work for us- we'd spend it, then spend more. Rather, we alternate treat months. He might get an out of state Iowa fishing license or bird license in the spring or fall, I might get a new Cathe tape in January or get new exercise shoes in August.)

Excellent response, Jenne. What you describe is the type of relationship my husband and I have as well. It's all in fun. And I'll bet Donna and her husband relate in much the same way, too. Hope you don't feel too guilty, Donna. You're just enjoying life to the fullest. I'm betting your family isn't suffering too much. :)

kathryn....................

And I thought it was JUST me! I can hear him when he pulls up, I can't hear half the other things I need to, but the UPS truck, I hear!

RE: kathryn....................

You guys are hilarious. As convenient as it is to buy things online, I wish Cathe's videos and all that special workout equipment you can "only get online" were sold in stores. It would be much easier to "sneak them in". Not that my husband really cares, but whenever a package is delivered, he says "what did you get this time - another exercise video or skincare stuff?". He just doesn't understand... :)

RE: kathryn....................

But doesn't stuff that comes in the mail or by UPS seem more like a "gift," even though you paid for it? It seems like that to me!

I know!!! I can't stand my UPS guy. He's creepy, calls me dear in a weird, condescending, serial killer kind of way, and gives me the heebies. He practically sings "QVC" when I get one of those boxes. I love Cathe's customer service, but I would be quite pleased if she'd switch to FedEx :). I left yesterday for 15 lousy minutes to pick up the kids from school and guess who manages to deliver my new Cathe tape while I'm gone? Either he leers or he rats me out. That UPS guy is on my sh*t list! It kind of diminished my excitement about the new tape too, having to explain to DH what was in the pkg. What a timely post Donna!

Well... I've never tried to sneak anything past my husband... but I wonder if he'd notice a new elliptical trainer? hmmmm

You COULD report this UPS guy to his superiors. You don't have to tolerate behavior from ANYONE who makes you uncomfortable.

Just Do It! :)
