Ever do PUB in reverse order?

I'm curious. Tomorrow I'm going to switch things up and do PUB in the reverse order....bis/tris/shoulders/back/chest. Just for fun (and hopefully DOMS).

Anybody ever try it???

Gayle

Nope, never tried it. I'm too lazy to select the chapters myself when I can just press play and let it run! I have done the abs first though, and then the weights. That makes a huge difference with all those pikes on the ball.

I've never tried it, but it is a good idea. I seem to be wiped by the time I get to biceps I feel shakey before even starting. Doing them first is a good idea. Might have to try this.

Haven't tried it, and wouldn't, unless I wanted to focus on bringing the smaller muscles (biceps and triceps) up to speed. I can see doing one of the smaller muscles groups first for that reason, but not really doing the workout in reverse order. I'd be interested to see how this affects how much you can lift for the larger muscles groups (since you'll be pre-exhausting the synergists).

LOL...Kathryn, I knew you'd chime in with some insight. I'm thinking that by the time I get to chest presses/flies, I may not be able to lift what I normally do....I'll keep you all posted after tomorrow's early AM BACKWARD workout! lol

Gayle

I was going to say exactly what Kathryn said. Let us know how it goes - typically larger groups need worked first so that the smaller groups (bis and tris) which are assistor muscles to these larger groups are not burned out. Unless your priority is working these smaller muscles...then, you will have all your strength for those. Good luck! Clarissa

"typically larger groups need worked first so that the smaller groups (bis and tris) which are assistor muscles to these larger groups are not burned out"

Exactly why I wouldn't reverse the order.

Clare

If you do it in reverse order do your muscles go away?

If you play a country song backwards...

You get your wife back
You get your truck back
You get your trailer back
You get your dog back
You get your job back

Sorry its just a real dull shift right now...

Well, it's done...and my body is still in one part. My smaller muscles survived! No need to worry. lol I LOVED the way I was able to focus more on my bis and tris, having done them at the beginning instead of the end of this workout. I also loved knowing that during that high set of chest flies that this was the LAST group of exercises! LOL

Yes, I understand the philosophy of working larger muscles first, but isn't that the way we almost ALWAYS do it, because we're SUPPOSED to? Changing things up....THAT'S what we're supposed to dso also, right?

It was great, for a change of pace, to make that subtle change, and to challenge body and mind in a different way.

TRY IT! You may like it! LOL

Gayle

p.s. Dave, I don't 'get' the song. lol And I'm a country music lover. lol Hope you survived the shift!
