Escape your Shape

Has anybody read/tried Escape Your Shape? The authors premise is that one should exercise based on their body shape. In his “terms”, I would be considered a spoon. If I were to follow his recommendations, that would mean NO SQUATS, NO LUNGES, NO STEPPING, (in other words no more Cathe or the Firm). I find that hard to believe especially because I have had great results so far using the Firma and Cathe. Granted, though, I am still a “spoon” and would like to trim my lower half more. Has anyone tried his program and has had results? Conversely, has anyone tried the Lower Body Solutions which suggests working the legs everyday (this program does allow squats, lunges, etc.)? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

not that way but....

There was a thread a few weeks back about body type and recommended workouts. Check out Muscle & Fitness Hers website. The article was in the June/July2001 issue.

Clearly, not being a spoon but more of a shovel :) I'd be a little careful about giving up something that works (Cathe/Firm) for a "theory" that may or may not work!
My lower body was horribly out of shape before stepping and weight training. Because I was so heavy initially and had to be careful of too much stress on my knees, one of the only weight bearing exercises I could do was squats! I haven't read anything about this theory, but I credit the new shape of my lower body completely to Cathe. I followed her advice via videos and this forum, and have totally reshaped my lower body.
Also, I am currently doing "lower body solution", there have been some very lengthy threads about it, you may want to do a search and check them out. You'll be able to form an opinion based on the input from many on the forum, both pros and cons on the subject. It will also give you a link to the website for further reading on the topic. It has worked for me, I've modified it to 5 days rather than 6 days/week, and I find it's giving me positive results.
Good luck with whatever you decide, but I wouldn't part with Cathe for all the money in the Publishers Clearing House vault! :)
