Equipment used in Intensity Series.

Can anyone tell me what kind of barbell & weights Cathe is using in Boot Camp, the Pyramids, etc? She seems to be able to transition very quickly from one weight to the next. I got my barbell from Sports Authority and I have the worst time getting the clip off the end and back on. At first I thought it was my weak hands, but when my husband (who installs 500 lb. windows for a living and can lift them with his thumb and first finger!!) couldn't easily take the clip off either, I knew it wasn't just me!!
It really slows me down and I am ready to convert! If anyone knows the answer, please help me out.

Thanks,

I'm not sure what equipment Cathe uses in the Intensity Series; however, I bought a Troy Light barbell system from the Fitness First distributor a couple of years ago, replete with several rubberized plates and spring-clips, and I really like it. I find the clips very easy to crank on and off. I think the plates Cathe uses in the Intensity Series are slightly different (somewhat thicker) than the Troy Lite plates, but perhaps it is also that system.

I think Cathe posts a link to the Fitness First or Troy Lite system on her consumer / buyer's guide. And I think the website address is: www.fitness1st.com.

Hope this helps -

Thanks, Annette!

I have been in search mode since I made that post, and I thank you for the help -now I can "go where I want to go, do what..." oh,sorry -I'm on my third cup of coffee and it's affecting my brain!!!

I'm wondering if there's anywhere on the site that Cathe lists the different types of barbells she has used since she started with MIS?
Wouldn't that be nice, then we could compare them and buy whichever one we like best!

Thanks again,

I don't know HOW they transition so fast. Even though the clips on my Troy set work really well and are easy to remove, I can't get transitioned as fast as they can, even when I try. I've just decided that it's not necessary to be so speedy (since speed or hurrying and weight training do NOT go together well) and take my time without being too slow. The extra pause I get between sets isn't excessive, but it helps me be strong for the next set. Thank goodness for DVD chaptering and the ability to quickly "chapter back" to catch up!

I switched to using dumbbells for at least 2 of the weights so that I didn't have to change the barbell that often. I usually have the barbell at either the highest weight or a weird weight that I don't have a dumbbell match for. Makes the whole workout much less frantic.

Yes, I do use the quick release collars... they REALLY help. Another suggestion is to use plate mates. They are higher in price, but very usefull. You could use it to add small poundage your dumbells. You can find them at www.fitnesswarehouse.com.
