Enova

Does anyone use Enova cooking oil? I saw an ad in the paper about it and was just wondering what it's like. I hardly ever use oil and when I do I use olive oil. But you can't fry with olive oil (not that I fry food, I'm just saying hypothetically :) ). Is it chemically altered or is it natural oil?

Thanks!

Oh I beg to differ! I don't "fry" foods. I saute meats and vegetables and I hardly ever use anything but olive oil. I may on occasion use canola oil, and you can add a dab of canola oil to the pan with the olive oil to lower the smoke point. Most of the foods I saute cook quickly on med-high heat so burning is not really an issue.

ETA I have never used Enova and I'm not sure what it is. I believe it's a combination of 2 oils but I wouldn't swear to it.

ETA again--LOL! Here's a chart indicationg the smoke point of various cooking oils and EVOO actually has a high smoke point--but enova is not on this list:

Hi Ashleigh,
Ran downstairs to get my bottle so I could type this out for ya. (That is my only workout today as I am whupped by bronchitis at the moment...)

Ingredients:
Diacylglycerol oil made from soybean oil and canola oil. Antioxidant (Vitamin E and Vitamin C palimate) to maintain freshness, and polyglycerol esters of fatty acids.

Calories (per 1 tablespoon): 120
saturated fat 0.5g
Trans fat 0
Polyunsaturated fat 8g
Monounsaturated fat 5g
Cholesterol, sodium, carbs & protein: 0
Vitamin E 30%

I have used it, and I liked it because it adds no flavor that I can taste. I can't hardly stand olive or canola oil. I have used it to pan fry fish for DH, and it worked great, and also to make popcorn..
oh, and for stir-frying chicken and broccoli.

Julie

ETA: On the label it says it can be used for deep frying, dressings, baking....

I use Enova for anything that I need to use oil in. If you google it you can read more info on it. I don't know if the claims are all true but still feel better using this. It is more expensive but since I don't use a lot of oil it lasts me quite a while. I also like the packaging compared to other oils.
