Energy supplement during workouts

Winter

Hi Everyone,

I will be starting Insanity next week. I have had the summer off from work and have been traveling a lot so I have managed to get some jogging in and some walking but that is it. I am looking for a safe supplement to take right before I work out for a bit more energy during my workouts. I usually work out in the morning after several cups of coffee so I would like something that doesn't conflict with coffee.

I have used 5 hour energy but I don't think that gives you an immediate boost.

I welcome any ideas.

Thank you,
Winter

Make a smoothie that includes a couple tablespoons of chia gel (chia seed soaked in water).

(IMO, if you need "several cups of coffee" AND some other kind of stimulant, something is not right. You could be sleep deprived, or overstressed, or trying to do too much too fast. You might want to check out Brendan Brazier's "Thrive," which talks about artificial stimulation vs. supporting the body through nutrition. He gives some suggestions for adaptogens--natural foods that help the body in a general way--that could help.)

Any energy suppliment will end up coming with a warning about combining caffine intake w/the suppliment. To much can and probably make you jittery. It has left my heart beating a million times a minute. I now drink wheat grass shots and emergen c packets which have given me a nice little boost or energy but not so much that I crash after.

Nitric oxide is what I use and it is great, it works in your body really well and it is not caffeine based do a little research so you know what is best for you though. I purchase my Nitric Oxide from bodybuilding.com

If you need several cups of coffee and something else to get you through a workout, you may be severely sleep deprived or your body chemistry is out of whack. I would actually suggest starting to slowly reduce your daily coffee intake, along with other caffeinated/stimulating substances such as pop and chocolate, until you don't need it anymore. If you are sleep deprived, focus on that as well.
