Endurance for Movement

I just rec'd all 4 TLT's tonight. I did EFM. The setting is beautiful. I love the music used for the WU in this one. I really enjoyed the non-traditional WU and the walking planks. The form pointers, especially for the stability ball abs and supermans, were awesome. I liked one of the moves where you pretended to lift your leg over a table and the mountain climbers were KILLER! I was sweating a lot even though I didn't feel as challenged (that's the worng word...I didn't feel challenged the same way, which is good of course) as when I do a Cathe workout. I know this will change as I learn the moves and work on my form. One of the cardio moves I enjoyed was a touch, knee, kick, knee, touch, jack. I found it ironic that the cardio segments didn't get my heart rate up as much as the compound/non-traditional weight work did but again, I think with practice and good form this workout will only get more challenging! This was a very different workout and a nice change. I have begun a TLT/Cathe rotation. I am really happy with the quick preview I gave all the workouts.

I wsa surprised at how much thees workout make me sweat. From what I'm reading, it's because the movement is shared by many muscles throughout the body, so there's little isolate musle 'burn," but lots of calorie burn and lots of muslces working (some postural ones that you won't even notice until the next day!).

I found Tracie's two workouts to be the toughest of the two as far as making me feel like a klutz! (which is something some of these FF moves are good at!).

I was pleasantly surprised that this work-out burned 400 calories according to my HRM. That is as much as I burn doing Imaxes. However, I did not get at all sore from any of the work-out and cannot count this as weight training at all. I found it very easy. I did preview Jen's last night and really liked the looks of that one for weight work a lot more than this one. I think when I do SIM on Sunday, I will in all likelihood be sore on Monday.

Of course, I have to do all of them more times before there is final judgement. I just love traditional weight work, always have always will.

Yea, I hava absolutely no DOMS right now, but I KNOW it is good for me to cross train and I really think the more I do this workout the harder it will become. I need to continually focus on sucking my gut n, good posture, and once I get the routine down, I will be able to focus in more on the muscles. I'm supposed to do SIM on Saturday and I'm really looking forward to this one. Based on preview alone, this looks like it may very well be my top pick of the four. Jen Carmon is very upbeat without being over the top and I believe I liked the music in SIM. I also bought an 8 pound med ball to do some of the cardio with. I will probably have to throw a traditional strength/endurance workout in from time to time. I am really happy with my purchases! The TLT/Cathe rotation I'm following looks very inviting to me. I would like to find some more workouts to cross train with but the TLT's are the first workouts I've liked enough to buy besides Cathe. I've tried a ton of workouts from Netflix and only did one workout. The rest I shipped back on preview alone.

Kathryn, do you do the TLT's in a particular rotation?

I agree although I have trained myself to hold my core in a long time ago, so that is not my issue. I do feel EFM will grow on me. In previewing SIM, I immediately liked it. I have not previewed the other two.

My intention for the next month was to maintain fitness levels and back off on the heavier weights, so I felt these fit the bill. I did the Cathe's January rotation which gave me fabulous results fitness wise, so just switching gears for 4 weeks.

I hear ya...right now I'm in the good form then flopping around stage. These are going to have a bigger learning curve for me than my usual Cathe workouts. I'm glad to have something to switch gears with like you said. I hope to do one of Cathe's more "extreme" rotations this summer when I have a more flexible schedule! I love having so many options! I'm so psyched for Cathe's new workouts and I really can't wait for the next set or is it the third set, where she combines cardio with one or two body parts...woo hoo!

Options are great, which is why I have been able to continuing exercising for the last 30 years, and the last 10 mostly with home work-outs. So convenient, fun and really quite good!

I did Strength In Movement on Wednesday and my butt is still sore today! I've never had a sore butt from any of Cathe's workouts. I really, really liked this workout and clicked with Jen's cueing. I'm mixing my Cathe workouts with 2 TLT's a week. Tomorrow will be EFM, which I've only done once before. Learning curve is right.

I found I'm not sore in the same way as I am after a Cathe workout. But I found that I could feel core muscles and the "thutt" part of my butt when I did SB yesterday or reached my arms up. It wasn't a "gosh I'm so sore," but when I did certain movements, I could feel areas of my body that had definitely been worked. I can't wait to do SIM today! I think I'm really enjoying the variety and mixing these in with my Cathe workouts.

Hi Angela,

Keep sharing your reviews about TLT DVD'S. I am interested, but was curious to see what you think!
Thanks for taking the time to post! Ann Marie

:) :)

Hi girls~
I only bought the two w/os that Tracie leads-EFM & BBB. I was going to preview them both today and ended up doing 90% of both tapes. I was really suprised at how tough some of the moves were--I thought they "looked" easy.:p May I ask how you are mixing them into your Cathe rotations?:)

May I inquire on this Strength in Movement is this a tlt or could you let me know who this is buy and where to pick it up anything that burns the buns I would like to give a try.

Thank YOU.

Strength In Movement is one of the 4 new Tracie Long Training DVD's that were recently released. It is led by Jen Carmen. I really liked it. Today I did EFM and upped the weights it was a good workout too. I "got" the movements and a little better and so it flowed nicer for me. I'm feeling these workouts will really help my core for cycling.

Someone on this site and at Tracie's site posted a rotation. I will try to find it for you and bump it up or post the link here. They based the rotation on one Tracie made up using the TLT's and the Firm workouts. I did SIM today(yes this too is a TLT workout). I LOVED it. I don't have all the moves down and it was still challenging. My legs are kind of sore right now (quads but lower quads...don't really know how to explain) and I can feel my upper body was worked. There were a couple of moves where my form in the lower body was off. I will have to get coordinated. What I really liked is a lot of the upper body moves opened me up if that makes sense. I sweated a ton during this workout. There is a lot of room for improvement and with practice this one too can only get MORE challenging. These are very different and I am excited to see what benefits I notice from these. Right now I'm just happy to have a change from my typical workouts. I was getting into a mode, again, where I was working out too long and I think I was just burning myself out. I'm excited about my workouts again! Also, this rotation has more active rest and total rest days worked in. The more I read the more I find that recovery is as key to weight loss and toning up as working out and eating right is (I REALLY need to work on the nutrition aspect). Sorry, this post is too long already. I will do Better Burn Better Buns on Tuesday and Finding Your Core on Friday. I'm off to search for that rotation!

>Kathryn, do you do the TLT's in a particular rotation?

I started using them twice a week (one one "total body weights" day, and one on "core"day), then got into a rotation just going through them and alternating with cardio and stretching.

Now, after a bit of a layoff due to my injury, I'm getting back into them, but plan to do FYC, alternating with other workouts, until it feels easier and then move on to another and do the same.

Hi Angels,

Where did you buy all 4 of the TLT'S. I saw that collage has only 2 of them?
Thank you for all the great feedback!;-) ;-)

Ann Marie

Ann Marie,
I bought them all at collage. To find them type in the title or by instructor. Two are led by Tracie Long and one is led by Susan Harris and the other is led by Jen Carmam. You can pull up each workout by searching by the instructor's name. Also, I couldn't get the preview from tracie's site to work but I was able to see the preview at www.cksales.com.

I do want to say that these workouts are completely different from Cathe. You won't feel as worked or as out of breath during the workout and there is a huge learning curve, at least for me. They are challenging but totally non-traditional. That being said, I'm really happy I've added these to my collection. Also, there are detailed reviews at videofitness, I beleive, that give a breakdown of the workouts, move by move. I feel very worked today from SIM yesterday but no major DOMS...just a nice worked feeling.

I did SIM this morning and really liked it a lot. I don't think I will be sore, but I do feel worked on this one. I won't do these work-outs all the time, but I am always changing up what I am doing about every 4 weeks, and these fit a nitch.
