I visited an endocronologist to have my thyroid checked, as well as other hormone levels. Fortunately for me, everything was fine. It definitely gave me peace of mind, but it is not something I plan to do regularly unless I have symptoms that are concerning to me or my regular doctors.
Something that I do think is important to do is to have an annual physical exam, where my general practice doctor does blood work to check for things like vitamin levels and cholesterol levels. I feel like this habit is really important because maintaining good health in these areas will definitely benefit other aspects of my health (like hormone levels). Plus, if anything is ever out of balance, it is easy and empowering to create an action plan with my doctor.
If you do decide to go to an endocronologist, be sure to check with your insurance. I had to have a referral to the endocronologist before insurance would cover it (I got the referral from my OB/GYN). The regular physical exam, however, is covered as a standard wellness check with the regular co-pay (of course, your insurance could handle it differently).
HTH. Wishing you good health.
