Enchanted?

My DH and I rarely go to a movie theater, but we have 4 whole days off and we thought we would go see Enchanted. It sounds delightful, and the Rotten Tomatoes rating is 93%, including positive reviews from all the major newspapers. I spoke to my mother last night, and she said one of her friends (they're all high-brow cultural types) thought it was awful!!

If you've seen it or even know anyone who has, please let me know what you think. Is this one to see on the big screen or should we wait and see it as another rental? Thanks!

My girls (12 and 14) thought it was great and told me they wanted to watch it again with me, that I had to see it. I also thought it looked really cute. FWIW...

It looked as if it might be particularly appealing to someone who lives in New York city. Do you folks agree?

For someone who lives just north of the city (and whose husband is there every day) I would recommend.... I AM LEGEND!! We just saw this movie this morning, and the shots of the city overtaken by wilderness are amazing. You see Times Square with foliage, and deer, yes, deer, running through the streets. Cornfields, too!! Besides all of the city footage, it is very exciting! I was holding on to each of my DD's arms lots of times.

Sorry to semi-hijack, but I didn't see Enchanted.

I saw it and really enjoyed it. Some great scenes in the park, and the entire movie is one big tongue in cheek take on Disney classics. Very well done. It is not considered a very "deep" film, but it was very entertaining.

I agree with this viewpoint. I saw it with a bunch of 11 year old girls and liked it very much. But would I go to the movie theatre and see it on my own as an adult with no child companion and reason? No, save it for DVD. There are so many adult movies I would rather pay big mazoolas to see instead.

Thanks, Clare! Like what movie would you withstand the horrors of a theater for? (I abhore movie theaters, so the movie has to be awesome).

Hi Nancy,

I saw "Enchanted" at the theatre.

I would wait to rent it.

It is a cute movie, but nothing special.

Anthing related to Jason Bourne. Shame the trilogy is complete, sigh. Love Matt Damon. Problem is that money is tight, so I only ever see kid type movies at movie theatres, when I'm doing my mum bit and escorting my daughter and her friends. I usually only get to the movies to see something I want to see about once a year when I can persuade my husband to actually go out sometime!!!
