Emotional Eating in Men

I know we tend to think of emotional eating as something women do, but have any of you noticed periods of emotional eating in your DHs or SOs? I know DH is under a lot of stress lately (work, new house, rental properties, the usual life stuff) and I feel like he is just eating a ton. Don't know if the two are related. He's always had a good appetite, and doesn't have a weight problem but now it's one of those situations where at dinner he will have two and three big helpings. I've been eating more than I wanted to just so there wouldn't be anything left on my plate for him to finish. Should I say something to him? Let it ride? What would you guys do?

TIA!

Sparrow - if my DH suddenly started eating more I'd be worried as he's pretty disciplined about eating and knows when he's full. Has your DH ever done this before or is this totally new? It might be stress related, but there might be other reasons as well. Is he okay about getting physicals? I'd have his have a blood test at the very least. If nothing comes up, then it's stress related, but it's better safe than sorry. The good news is that anything I can think of that would cause anything like that is very treatable.

Dh is def an emotional eater just like I am. I can always tell what kind of day he had by what he's eating for supper. Of course our husbands are quite different in that mine is currently 150lbs overweight but I think if your Dh is someone that is generally not offended easily I'd say something very casually about it. If I mentioned it to my dh he'd probably have a cow and get very offended...and eat more. I know when Dh points out that i'm eating again even though I can't possibly be hungry (in a nice supportive way) it makes he think about how much I really want whatever it is i'm munching on so maybe it would put things in perspective for him.
