Emergency Chinese Food Advice Needed! :P

Hey All!

I'm not normally this freaky about food but after my "grease and booze" weekend I really want to stay on track with decent eating this week. Of course my in-laws have invited us out for Chinese tonight.

So, what's decent on a Chinese menu? I rarely eat Chinese and have no idea. Though I do know enough to avoid the General Tsaos.

TIA!

Almost every Chinese restaurant out there now has steamed options on their menus. You can also ask for sauces on the side. I generally try to go with the chicken and veggies or chicken and brocolli options. Pretty safe.

I usually get a chicken/shrimp and veggie selection and the ask for sauce on the side. I actually rarely end up using the sauce but when I ask for "no sauce" it creates too many raised eyebrows. I'll often ask to substitute bean sprouts for rice or just skip the rice altogether. If you "need" an appetizer go for the soup.

Summer Rolls are a great appetizer. They are super-fresh, not fried and crazy delicious when done well.

I agree with Stacy. Order the sauce on the side, and don't use it. Let them bring the rice, but don't eat it. Ask for some low-sodium soy sauce and use that on a steamed plate of veggies and chicken or fish, and add as much chinese mustard as you like.

When we order Chinese food at home, I mix some low-sodium soy sauce in a cup with a few drops of San-J Szechuan sauce. Yum!! (I dump the yucky greasy stuff they send in the sink).

Thanks Ladies!!

I had steamed chicken with broccoli and rice and a tiny bit of plum sauce.

And a fortune cookie. Apparently pots of money are headed my way. Yipee! :+
