Can anyone suggest a decent elliptical trainer? I had a Nordictrack from a few years ago and it has given me so many problems recently...conveniently when the extended warranty expired!!!! TIA!!

How much are you wanting to spend?

I have a Precor (EFX 5.23). I absolutely love it. I've had it for almost 3 years and never had a single problem with it. It was expensive, but worth it to me.

Hi Melissa :) - I bought an Octane late last summer and I love it. I canvassed the educated crowd here before I bought and had several recommendations for the Octane. If you search "octane" here on the forums, you should be able to see what others have said.

P.S. My Octane was rather expensive, but I feel it's worth it.

I have a Precor 5.17 - the bottom of the line Precor but it is great! Here is the TM DRs Best Buy list:

They have reviews by brand too but according to their blog they will be updating the lists and reviews soon. You might find some good deals if a company is updating or discontinuing a model. If you go to a fitness specialty store most likely they will sell it to you for less than the price you see. I got my Precor for under $2000 which was close to $700 off at the time. Good luck shopping.

In addition to reading reviews, I would suggest visiting fitness stores and trying out the different models on the floor. They can all feel a little bit different and come with different options. Some models will incline or ramp up, others have adjustable strides, etc.. so you need to decide what is important to you.

I bought an Octane Q45e as it felt the most natural to my mechanics and gait. I absolutely love it and just used it this morning with CCV7.

HTH:)

Yes, it's a good idea to try out several to find the one that fits you best. I bought an Octane 47e, which analyses, and then automatically adjusts, the stride. Like Judi, I work out to Cardio Coach on my elliptical, and it automatically adjusts the stride throughout the workout, depending upon speed. Happy shopping, let us know what you finally decide to purchase.
