Elbow pain...bummer

Hi all.

About 6 weeks ago, I switched from slow and heavy type lifting to an endurance rotation which involves doing lighter weight and more reps. I noticed after the 2nd week that my elbows were a little bothersome but nothing major. The next week I did plank exercises for my core muscles. I did a reverse plank and boy did I feel pain in my left elbow. I thought, okay no working out for the rest of the week. So, I took about 5 days off from upper body lifting that week. The next week, I did my normal workouts and everything seemed okay. However, I've started having pain again. I took last week off completely from doing any upper body work and tried on Saturday to do some very light exercises for triceps and chest. My left elbow is again hurting. I guess I will take this week off too. I am discouraged because I don't want to lose all my hard earned muscle. Any suggestions for quicker healing. I have noticed that it takes my body longer to heal than it did when I was younger.
