Eating Prior to AM W/O?

Just read the post on fasted cardio.

If you have to get up and start working out by say 6:00am what are you guys eating?

I thought you should wait a while after eating before you exercise.
 
Some folks don't eat before an a.m. work out.

Others eat a very light snack that does not require you to wait very long at all before beginning your work out.

How long one waits after eating is really a personal thing...everyone is different.

Test the waters and do what works best for YOU!:)
 
Like Tigger said, it is a personal thing and what works for you. I will just tell you what works for me.

I wake up at 5:30 AM and drink 8 oz water and workout for 60-90 mins. Then immediately after that I have a handful of cashews. Then around 10:00 I have some oatmeal. I have found that this works best for me. Hopefully other people will reply with what they do and you can try various things until you find what works for you.

I have been an early morning workout person now for 6 years. I was very curious about whether I should eat first or not, so I did some research and basically I saw that it doesn't make a lot of difference. Your blood sugar does not drop super-low if you don't eat first unless you are diabetic. It's a matter of preference. I tried it both ways and found it made little difference, so now I don't eat first and I am fine. I work out from 4 - 6 am and then eat about 6:30. Never had a problem.
 
If I workout within an hour after I get out of bed, I don't eat. Otherwise, I'll eat yogurt and cereal and wait 45-60 minutes before working out.

I'm working out about 5:30...usually for an hour and eat my oatmeal and protein powder at work about 8:30.

I do have a super strong cup of coffee before I start and then drink about a quart of water during my workout.
 
I HAVE to eat or I could not do my morning workout which right now is 5 to 6. Getting used to this early a.m. schedule is TOUGH for me but I have to do this right now or my workouts just won't get done consistently.

P.S. I drink coffee and usually eat a zone bar or drink a yogurt smoothie before my workouts. Coffee is a MUST before my early morning workouts! I drink water during and after my workout.
