EARTHQUAKE IN CA!

A shout out to all of our Cathletes in the Northern California area hoping everyone is okay!

Sounds like a you had a pretty big earthquake yesterday! Prayers to all of you that no one had been hurt!

Take care all!

I don't think yesterday's was all that big, was it? It wasn't near me. We had one Thursday and one Friday. I work in a building that was built in the 1860s as a prune canning place, and let me tell you, we all bolted out of there very quickly! :D But, it was just one quick jolt and not a big deal. Next day, almost the same time, the same thing happened. Let's hope all these little ones release enough pressure so there's not a big one.....

I hope not! The one yesterday was 6.5. Not sure where that measures against others. I don't live in earthquake country, so I'm not sure what's considered a "big" one! Any earthquake would freak me out!

6.5 is fairly big actually, but it was up in Eureka -- not as populated an area, though certainly people live there. My husband shouts out that he doesn't think anyone was hurt. He's way more on top of current events than I am.
Earthquakes are strange.....

Thanks for your good thoughts, at any rate!

It was in Humboldt County, off of the coast - 13.5 miles deep in the Ocean floor.

After shocks were felt where I live, but we have quakes every single day, so no one really noticed or cared.

ETA: "Fifteen smaller earthquakes followed, eight of which were larger than 3.0 in magnitude, according to US Geological Survey records. They included a 4.5-magnitude earthquake with the same epicenter as the 6.5-magnitude quake."

I was wondering if you were going to weigh in on this one...

Well, I'll know next time not to worry unless it's at least a 10! I've never had to deal with earthquakes, tornadoes or even hurricanes! I've been lucky, I guess! None of the hurricanes that came by us when we lived in NC (we were about on the coast) ever actually hit land!

Morningstar - If that video of ice fishing had played a little longer, would you have popped out of that fishing hole? ;) I won't even go in the ocean here in the dead of summer without my wetsuit! Brrrr!

Actually, the ocean is my winter habitat. My middle name's Ariel.

Hi there,

I was in the terrifying Loma Prieta quake in NoCal- very earth shattering in every way. I was also very near the Northridge quake. No matter how "big" or small, a quake is a quake and still very scary and rattles you to the bone both literally and figuratively!

I'm glad most are safe!

Pam

Tricia it is so nice of you to care. I guess us Californians are used to them, . . I don't even know what the heck I was doing because I didn't feel a thing. I guess with 2 kids the house shaking is something I'm used to but trust me even a small 5 point earthquake has been known to cause plenty of damage here in Napa county so I appreciate your concern.
