Dyson vaccuum cleaners

I just have to comment on the Kirby vacuum. I was laughing thinking of mine. My husband bought it 10 years ago and refuses to give it up, I HATE it. I conveniently "lost" the screws to it when I had to take it apart to retrieve coins that my son put in the motor. Yet he still refuses to throw it out. Our movers are going to take this piece of junk in the van so it can sit in the next house and do nothing! I don't know why he is so attached to the thing. Not to mention carrying up the stairs was fun! Good luck in your search in the ultimate vacuum. I have yet to find it.

My DH is the same way!!! He loves that vaccuum and i HATE it!! I guess I understand mine a little more, though, because it was one of the few things that he got in his divorce settlement that the biatch of the ex-wife didn't steal and hide!!! She took all the wedding gifts and conveniently "lost" them so they couldn't be declared on the settlement!

Yea, I love that comment, too!

I have this Miele vaccum:

and have been very happy with it. It was reasonably priced when I got it and is easy to use. I did not research Dyson's because they were out of my price range, but it is great Candi and others are happy with it.

For my house, this Miele works great and it's lite enough and fun (ha) that my kids have an easy time using it too.

My DH loves CR but we haven't had much luck with two prior stand-up vaccums highly recommended by CR (I don't remember models) and have been happy with this one.

I am searching for a new vacume too. Two friends have Dyson [not sure which models] and they say don't buy it. They say it works well but is a pain to switch attachments and such. I still haven't decided what brand to buy. I am down to my last vacume bag so time is running out for me. i'm happy to have found this question as it will be great info at a much needed time!!
