Cathlete
Hi
I'm over in the UK and need some advice on which is the best dvd(s) to buy.

I want to loose around 21lbs, am intested in step (cardio) & weights and want to improve overall muscle tone.

Any suggestions would be a great help!
Thanks,
Andrea

)Hi, Andrea! Cathe has produced so many excellent step and weight workouts that it's a little tough to limit the suggestions to a couple three DVD's.

It might help if you described what your current exercise schedule, fitness level, coordination level with step (including intensity of moves and choreography complexity) AND your time availability are. Then we can offer more tailored suggestions.

Warning, however - Cathe DVD's are like potato chips (or "crisps", as our friend Across The Pond like to say }( ) - you can't stop getting 'em once you've gotten your first!

Let us know more about you, then we can assist -

More info!

Thanks for your reply - here's more info...

Time availability: upto an hour during the week - more at weekends
Current workouts: weight training x2 week (Joyce Vedral at mo)
Karen Voight Circuit training/Taebo x2 week
Fitness Level: intermediate - cardio: definite room for improvement / strength: OK

Co-ordination's good on step although sometimes takes a while to grasp if too choreographed.

Lower body strength needs working on and legs get tired if moves are high impact.

Hope all this info helps and thanks again,
Andrea

RE: More info!

Hi Andrea!

Nice to see another Brit on here! I am currently in North Wales although I'm shortly due to emigrate to the US with my American husband.

I too am fairly new to Cathe and mainly started off with the Bodyblast and Intensity series - I don't think you can go wrong with either of those. For cardio I'd recommend Imax2/Cardio & Weights and Bootcamp from the Intensity series as well as Kick Punch Crunch/Legs & Glutes from the Bodyblast series.

For strength, I'd recommend either the Pure Strength series or Power Hour and then you might want to work your way up to the Slow & Heavy series (this series is pretty tough - requires a lot of mental focus!).

Since doing Cathe workouts, I've lost 28lbs - and diet hasn't really had too much to do with it as I can't stop eating!

Good luck with your weight loss!
Josie

RE: More info!

Great suggestions from Brit-Josie (and btw, Josie - welcome in advance to The Colonies! }( ) -

Andrea, you also may want to consider the Cross-Train Express Series in its entirety; it is a series that includes 6 1-hour workout, five of which have a cardio and targeted-muscle-group workout, and the sixth workout ("Leaner Legs" or what we call "Meaner Legs") is entirely devoted to leg strengthening. 4 of the 6 workouts also have traditional ab and core training. The cardio modes are varied among step, hi/lo, kickbox, step-kickbox and leg-circuit stuff. Awesome series, and a good way to introduce split-set weight training into your routine.

Hope this helps - welcome abroad! or aboard! whichever applies . . .

RE: More info!

Ah yes - the CTX series is also an excellent choice - I'd forgotten about that one!

Thanks Annette, I'm really looking forward to getting over there :)

Josie

Edited to say: BTW, there is something very addictive about Cathe's workouts, so once you get a few DVDs - you will simply want to get them all!

I think Bootcamp/Muscle Endurance is a must. BC will really kicks your butt in a short amount of time. Don't mean to sound harsh, but it's true! I love all of Cathe's cardio and circuit style videos. ME is her only full strength workout that I own and I really like it. The nice thing about her dvd's is that they are nicely chaptered so you can create all sorts of workouts.:)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

Really excited - have just ordered IMAX2/C&W and CTX dvds.

Let's hope they do the trick and help shed these stubborn lbs (and get me fitter too)!

Was going to get BootCamp but haven't got a medicine ball & was unsure as to substitutions (if any).

Thanks again

Hi Andrea! Welcome to Cathe's place! You can sub a dumbbell for the med ball. Works just as well. WELCOME!
