Dumb question

I made an appointment for tomorrow to get highlights first, then a haircut after. Does it make more sense to do it the other way around? I can't remember how I've done it in the past. I'm not planning to get a lot cut off, just a shaping. I'll call the salon today and see if they can advise me, but I'm pulling a blank on this.

Does it matter?

Thanks for answering my dumb question.

Not a dumb question! I usually get a trim right after my highlight, so in the same appointment...:)

Thanks, guys. I thought I remembered my stylist doing it this way in the past. She's out of town this week, or else I would have asked her. I'm somewhat new to this whole highlighting thing.

And thanks for saying it's not dumb, Carole! ;) :D

They do the chemical procedures first & the cut after b/c the chemicals can damage your hair. So if you cut it first & you don't want to damage freshly cut, healthy hair. It's better to do the damage first & then get rid of it, if that makes sense.

Nancy- mine does color first... she says its to be able to snip all the dry ends off that a color can sometimes cause....
