Driving... need to vent

autumn

What is wrong with people? Ok, let me preface this with the fact that I am PMSing. Here is the story…
I dropped DD off at dance and was on my way home. As I approached an exit, this car that was exiting decided ageist it and pulled out in front of several cars. Crazy driver… nothing unusual about that. I get in the passing lane (driving 5-10 mph over the speed limit) and he decides to pass a car to and whips his car in front of mine. I drive a SUV… it is not tiny but hey maybe he didn’t see me. So, he can’t commit to a speed (what is up with men and commitment? :), and there are no cars in the DRIVING lane so I signal to move into the lane to maintain my speed. He starts flipping me off and continues giving me the bird as I move into the right lane. Ok, I decide he is PMSing worse than I. He continues with the wild hand gestures as we are driving down the highway. I just waved ever so ladylike, because it is so much more fun than returning the bird. There are cars to pass so I pull into the passing lane, and I am keeping an eye on him. He refuses to be in the same lane as me and is still making hand gestures. As we approach a stoplight (yes, on the highway), I move into the passing lane so that I am the first car. Yes, I like to pull away from the stoplight fast. I told ya’ll I like horsepower and it is an opportunity to enjoy it for a brief moment. Well, he decides to get in the right lane but sees another car so stays behind me. When he gets the stoplight he decides to take the exit which puts him to my left to cross the southbound traffic. He pulls up beside me and I see him in my mirror giving me the eye (I have my cell ready just in case). I turned, looked at him, smiled, blew him and kiss, and chuckled. He turned away and called me something that I am certain is not my name. The light turned green and that was that.

But, what is up? Why did he go into road rage mode when I passed him? Is it because I am a woman? I used to get the NASCAR wannabe reaction from men/boys when I drove the Mustang Cobra, but this is a SUV. Maybe he knows he is a bad driver and had ticked many people off over time and assumed I was ticked. I dunno!

RE: Driving... neet to vent

I would have done the same thing...blew him a kiss, etc. My style. ;-) I had someone give me the bird, and I am not sure why. That was weird. Minding my own business, going in opposite direction in the daytime and staying in my own lane...WTH? Weird. I know it was directed at me because the guy went out of his way to stick his arm out of the car for the "greeting". No one else was on the road at the time except for me. I just thought, "weirdo" and laughed the rest of the way home.

RE: Driving... neet to vent

Some people seem to play "highway games." Who knows what is going on in this guy's head (I don't think you'd really want to know!).

There seem to be people who can't stand to have anyone else in front of them, so they pass, then they slow down, so you have to pass them to keep the same speed. What's with that?

I always wonder, as well, who keeps a gun in their car, so I don't want to get them too p.o.ed!

RE: Driving... neet to vent

Charlotte, have you noticed when you wave it ticks them off more?

You are smart to be cautious Kathryn. I live in a right to carry state... I think that is it. All I had to do was hit send on my cell, and I could have driven off since there were no cars crossing the intersection.

I hate road ragers/stupid drivers. Nothing peeves me more, especially since I usually have my kids with me.

I love your reaction!!!

I hate when people do that. Believe me, it's not just men either. One lady flipped me the bird and yelled at me to go faster. I was doing the posted limit. Let her get the ticket and waste her gas just trying to get through the next light.

The 76 camaro we have used to run and I would drive it. These teens would pull up next to me revving the engine and then taking off when the light turned green. I'm thinking, "Sweety, I have a straight 6 250. I will still be at this light when you get to the next one".LOL.:)

I love driving my blazer. It has a lift kit and 35" tires. I can see over almost any car and some trucks. I have never had a problem w/ other drivers while driving that.}(
