Down on my butt right in the parking lot!!!

due to black ice .

That was this morning and now I am stiff and sore ! I feel it in my entire back and neck, even my jaw and one arm. I couldn't even tell you how I went down, just hard and fast !

Any ideas what to do to lessen pain and stiffness ? I took Advil, and I've noticed sitting still for any length of time makes it worse, so I've tried to stay busy doing little things.

What else could I or should I do ? I'm worried I'm going to get up tomorrow and barely be able to move .:(

Thanks for any ideas !
Becky

That is so scary. I know I am always telling my kids to be careful because of ice and I almost fell in the parking lot at work. Just take it easy and if anything hurts for an extended period of time or gets worse go to the doctor. I girl I work with fell on the ice last year and had to have surgery on her wrist because she tore a tendon. In the meantime I think the Advil should do the trick or use hot/cold packs if either one helps.

Oh, I feel your pain. Literally. Last Sunday I got caught in freezing rain. Not only did I skid out off the road but when I got home I slipped in the driveway and landed on my hand. I was so mad because I moved to the Northeast 5 years ago from Florida and this was the first year I have ever fell on ice. I was so proud of that.

Hope you feel better.

Thanks to you both.

Kate, and that had to happen right after my fantastic workout this morning !!! *pout*

I should have been more careful but I just didn't see it . :(

Ouch ! Great advice on the motrin/advil, and epsom salt baths. Get some fresh pineapple, it is a natural muscle relaxer.

Hi Becky,

Ouch!! I totally feel your pain as well. I live in CO and sometimes I forget about the sneaky invisible ice. Like you gals, I'm always telling my son to walk carefully - as a brazen seven year old he pretends to "ice-skate" on the driveway. He fell a few times on his unpadded butt and that tames him for a few days.

So, I would also recommend a nice hot bath with salts. Zink Magnesium at bed-time is great for recovery. Lots of water to help flush. The last time I slipped, I was getting out of my car and really ripped the left side of my body grabbing onto the car. I ended up with some serious deep tissue massage which is what really made the difference. She's this tiny gal but is really strong!

Healing hugs & prayers on the way!
Pam

Yeowch! Sorry you took such a painful fall.

In addition to the bath & Advil, I would continue to apply heat wherever you feel stiff.

Hope you feel better!
