Don't misuse PlateMates !

I put a platemate on the end of a rubber coated dumbbell. Not a wise thing to do. The plate mate seemed to stick ok thru the rubber but when doing a fly it fell off. Luckily it fell off while on the down stroke and it did not hit my face !

Don't be stupid like me and try to put these on rubber coated dumbbells !!!

Glad you weren't hurt. I've had this conversation with people on here before. Like you said they stick a bit but not well enough to be safe.

I have the pace weights and they stick very well the the rubber weights I have. But they come in smaller weight increments. Mine are 1/2 lb each but I think the Plate Mates are 2.5 lbs. each. Is that correct?

Good warning.
I've seen several posts here and on VF saying that people use them on their rubber-coated dumbells, and I'm always trying to dissuade people from doing that for this very reason. (I would also caution people against pace weights on rubber-coatd dumbells. I have both types of stick-on weights, and IMO, neither are safe to use).

Yeah, they stick 'kinda', but not enough to be safe, especially for overhead moves (you could risk doing 1-arm rows with them, but not other moves, IMO).

Glad no serious damage occured!

Yep. This has happened to me. I've stopped using platemates anytime the dumbbell is going over my head or face, even on all metal dumbbells. It hurt too much when one fell on my nose (no injury though).
