I'm thinking of buying the following DVD's but don't have all the equipment needed. I currently have a standard step and hand weights (3,5,8,10). Can someone tell me what they think about needing all the equipment they say you need?

Intensity Series Vol 3 (pyramid upper and lower)
Do I really need the barbell, tall bench, or ankle weights? Can I use my regular step and hand weights?

Slow and Heavy Series
Do I really need the barbell? Can I use hand weights?

Body Blast Series Vol 3 (Push & Pull , Supersets)
Do i really need the high step or barbell? Can I use my regular step and hand weights?

thanks,
Kimbra

Hi Kimbra,

If your standard step is long enough, it is not necessary to have the tall bench.

I would highly recommend getting a barbell. They are pretty inexpensive at places like Target or Walmart, and usually come with a small assortment of weight plates. In some cases hand wts. can be substituted for the barbell but it would be a great investment if you plan on continuing to do Cathe workouts.

If you have a stable chair, that could be substituted for the high step. I used a padded folding chair until I finally broke down and bought the high step in January.

Ankle weights are not required but would be nice to have. You can do all the ankle wt. work without wts until they no longer challenge you. Then you may want to look into purchasing them.

Hope this helps.

Hi Diana,

Thanks for the advice. I usually go to the gym but I'm at a plateau and need to mix things up a little until they start new stuff at the gym. I love going to the classes but I think I'm getting burned out on it. So I'm thinking of buying a 15 or 18 lb body bar (I take the Body Bar class at the gym and do OK with it) instead of a barbell. My step is the original step with the two risers on each side. I do have some old 3lb wrist weights (if I could get them around my ankle).
Thanks, Kimbra
