Sorry ladies, I don't go on the forum during work anymore. Their Internet policy seems a little more strict - plus I'm getting the feeling that eventually I will be very busy. This week was a little dull. I spent most of the time reading stuff and trying to figure out what they're doing there. I have a slight clue - but next week I will be attending a lot of meetings.
My supervisor, who is the Vice President of the department, keeps telling people that she wants me to be her when she's not around. So, I think there's definitely some growth potential! There are also 4 other ladies on the team and I think she's putting me ahead of them. Hope that doesn't cause friction for me. But whatever. I'm older and have more experience so too bad, so sad for them.
I had orientation all day Monday. On Tuesday, my boss wanted me to come in at 10:00 because she had a dental appointment in the morning. The building is pretty much the tallest building in Buffalo and as I was walking in, I noticed the sound of an alarm coming from the building and everyone coming out. There was a fire drill, so I couldn't go in. Then when they let us go in, there was a huge line to get on the elevators. I finally made it up to my floor at about 10:50.
Wednesday I spent most of the day in a slight panic because I was trying to figure out the computer software program using the training manuals, which were for an older version. I couldn't get anywhere with it and I was a little nervous. But Thursday I said something about it to my boss and she gave me a link to the online tutorial of the current version. So I felt a lot better when I saw it actually made sense!
I'm hoping that next week I'll start getting into the "meat" of the job.
The people are very nice. There are a bunch of security gaurds downstairs by the elevators and I swear they all buy their suits at the same place - and they only sell you a suit if it's 2 sizes too big. Every one of them has a suit that's too big. It's funny. There is one, though, that seems a little more neat. He also looks like Bernie Mac, only shorter and younger.
So anyway, I probably won't be on the forum much except maybe after I get home from work. And the weekends. But you all know how busy life is after work, especially when you have kids.
