I've been weight training regularly for the past 2 years...for a while with a personal trainer & then on my own (at the gym & at home). I've been successful in giving myself what I've considered to be tough workouts, followed by some DOMS. I just did my first Cathe workout on Saturday...Muscle Endurance...I STILL can hardly move. I didn't strain, rested when I needed to, etc. Don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining, I'm just very surprised! Now the part I need advice on though: I've been dying to do it again (crazy I'm sure, but it seems you'll all understand ;-) ). I'm not sure this is wise. Should I just go for it, or would it be better just to do cardio machine followed by yoga/stretching?

Muscle Endurance is my favorite! I use to do that one twice a week...for over a year! I just received her new total body endurance (Muscle Max from Hardcore Series) and I did that Saurday and I am still sore. Even after doing ME 2x a week for over a year! I love it too!

Anyway, to your question....DON'T do ME today. Do some cardio, yoga, some stretching. I am heading to do yoga followed by treadmill right now. Let your muscles recover, do ME Wednesday or so. It is a good one! I LOVE all those leg presses!
 
Thanks so much...that's kinda' what I thought. We got snow last night, so maybe just some slow shoveling then light cardio, then stretch. I can hardly wait for ME on Wed!! I'm also recording Cardio & Weights. Is that step cardio or floor work? I'm so glad I can do these at home...I'm so uncoordinated! Usually cardio for me is on a machine & has never been my favorite. As I'm getting older though I'm enjoying it more.

I love ME too, and find myself doing it more often. I like the leg presses too, it really works the bum. I love this kind of workout. I would do it with lighter weights, and I still worked up a huge sweat. I did ME yesterday. I am still poor at working my abs, this is the hardest for me, and also pushups, but things are getting better.

Pushups are so difficult for me, too! I'm still doing them on my knees. The women of my family all have similar builds...large & strong on the bottom and thin & weak up top. So the legwork, although tiring, is much more "natural" to me. I'll be so proud of myself if I can ever truly master pushups! I'm very hopeful just from the limited time I've spent with you all on this forum!

I was thinking of ordering the Gym Style series and Slow & Heavy as well as ME first. Any thoughts on this?
 
BC/ME was my first Cathe DVD. I had to work up to the wts she uses. It took me about 3 months to do ME with the wts she uses. That was just insane for me at first, and I used to be able to toss haybails around! But I couldn't lift 40# above my head! I used to have DOMS for several days later! That was with lighter wt too! Now I'm fine the next day and I can do Imax Extreme the day after ME. I love my Cathe workouts!

What helped me with pushups were the slow&heavies. No problem with them now!

Slow & Heavy it is then...I really "need" to get the push up thing going. I embarrass myself! Thanks for your input:)
 
Great choice! You'll feel so strong after a few weeks with those! They will also really prep you for the GymStyles }(

Have fun and remeber to reduce your cardio with these b/c you want the maximum benefits when your building muscle. Then do a few weeks of tough cardio and you'll lean out quite nicely.

Thanks again for the advice...I think I'll just bite the bullet & order! I've been previewing & slowly trying what I can off of FitTV, and I can tell this won't satisfy me for long. I'm just an all-or-nothing kind of gal though & can't afford "all" right now, so I've been hesitant to commit as I don't want to be disappointed...for instance, I did supersets today and didn't like it nearly as much as ME. I'm anxious to see if I have any DOMS tomorrow. I think I'd enjoy GS, but again, the pushups will be my uber-challenge.

I'm just so eager to have an armful of DVD's!!!

When I house sit I get to watch fittv. The workouts are abridged a lot! Step Blast didn't even have the Blast Challenge! Super Sets is really good if you go a bit heavier than Cathe and play around with the extra long challenging premixes. I'll have doms for a day. I hardly ever get doms so this is a big deal for me. lol.
