Dog-it water fountain has worms!!

Okay this may sound really bad but I wanted to know if anyone else has experience this. We bought this fountain and it was great we had one large dog, one small dog, and a cat. The water would need to be refilled every few days. Our large dog has left and the water gets refilled once a week.

We went to refill a few weeks ago and discovered a farm of worms in the base! EWWWWWW...I flipped out and cleaned it, threw out the filters and filled it again. Well a few weeks later and they are back! I am going to clean it again and pick up some more filters today but I thought that since the water is continually flowing that it wouldn't be a problem. Maybe the fountain is two big and the water doesn't get drank fast enough.

I feel like a horrible pet parent and was wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this?

dh bought one for our dane a while back. i didnt want it because i knew it would never get cleaned. i was right. we didnt have worms but it got dirty fast and quickly ended up in the garbage.

Did you call your vet?
I'm wondering if your dog got worms from drinking from it? I don't know.

I would call your vet to make sure. You may have to take a stool sample in.
