Doesn't this sound FUN???!!!

This is my weather forecast for tonight/tomorrow!

A MASSIVE WINTER STORM IS ABOUT TO STRIKE MUCH OF SOUTHERN AND EASTERN ONTARIO WITH NEAR RECORD SNOWFALL AMOUNTS. LATEST ANALYSES INDICATES THAT THE DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS MOVING ACROSS WESTERN KENTUCKY PRECEEDED BY A BURGEONING AREA OF MODERATE SNOW WITH SOME FREEZING PRECIPITATION EXTENDING NORTH TO LAKE ERIE. THE LOW WILL MOVE NORTHEAST TOWARDS THE LOWER GREAT LAKES AND INTENSIFY RAPIDLY AS IT REACHES OHIO SUNDAY MORNING THEN TRACK ACROSS NEW YORK STATE INTO NEW ENGLAND SUNDAY NIGHT. THIS STORM TRACK WILL PLACE MUCH OF SOUTHERN AND EASTERN ONTARIO DIRECTLY UNDER THE BRUNT OF HEAVY SNOW. A FEW CLAPS OF THUNDER ALONG WITH BURSTS OF VERY HEAVY SNOW ARE ALSO LIKELY. THE BRUNT OF THE MAIN SNOW EVENT WILL BEGIN THIS EVENING IN THE SOUTHWEST AND RAPIDLY ENVELOP ALL REGIONS EAST TO OTTAWA IN THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF SNOW AS WELL AS STRONG WINDS CAUSING BLOWING SNOW ARE EXPECTED. FREEZING RAIN IS ALSO POSSIBLE NEAR LAKE ERIE. WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 20 TO 30 CM ARE EXPECTED IN MOST AREAS TONIGHT AND SUNDAY. SOME LOCAL AMOUNTS OF 40 CM OR MORE ARE QUITE LIKELY IN A FEW AREAS BY SUNDAY NIGHT..ESPECIALLY FROM THE WEST END OF LAKE ONTARIO AND EASTWARDS INTO FAR EASTERN ONTARIO. SIGNIFICANT BLOWING SNOW IS EXPECTED TO ACCOMPANY THE HEAVY SNOW DUE TO STRONG NORTHEAST WINDS GUSTING TO 60 KM/H WHIPPING UP THE FRESHLY FALLEN SNOW AND CAUSING WHITEOUT CONDITIONS. IN ADDITION FREEZING RAIN IS POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY NEAR LAKE ERIE FOR A FEW HOURS OVERNIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING AS MILDER AIR PAYS A BRIEF VISIT ALOFT. ICE PELLETS ARE ALSO QUITE POSSIBLE GENERALLY ALONG AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM GRAND BEND TO NEAR TORONTO AND EAST TO CORNWALL. THE PUBLIC SHOULD BE PREPARED TO CHANGE PLANS ACCORDINGLY TO AVOID UNNECESSARY TRAVEL DURING THIS STORM. THIS MASSIVE SNOW STORM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE NEAR-PARALYZING CONDITIONS AS ROAD TRAVEL ON ANY UNPLOWED STREETS MAY BECOME NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE ON SUNDAY. ALL MOTORISTS WHO MUST TRAVEL ARE URGENTLY ADVISED TO USE EXTREME CAUTION AND PLAN FOR MUCH EXTRA TIME TO REACH THEIR DESTINATION. THERE IS A HIGH DEGREE OF CERTAINTY WITH THIS STORM AS THE CONCENSUS OF WEATHER MODEL DATA IS VIRTUALLY UNANIMOUSLY FORECASTING THIS EVENT.

In anticipation of this 'FUN' event I have received an early Christmas present. A 3.5 HP Snowblower....I say BRING IT!!}(

We'll get through this Shelley, we are hardy Canadian Girls through and through! Like the song says 'Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...':)

Yikes, Shelley. I also have faith that you Canadian Girls can handle it. It reminds me of my Canadian grandfather's favorite Limerick:

There was a small boy of Quebec
who was buried in snow to his neck
When they said, "Are you friz?"
He replied, " Yes, I is,
but we don't call this cold in Quebec"

Something like that.

What can I say, Ms. Shelley, move to Arizona :) That'd be the bomb diggity!!!! You, Ms. Sophie, SO and the pups could move in with me for a while :)

But short of moving to AZ, I think you can handle it, you probably won't be able to get out of the house, but look on the bright side, that means you can post more on the Cathe forum :7

Carola - AZ sounds pretty good right now.

We're getting the ice pellets part. Everything is covered in a layer of ice. We're supposed to get the major part of the dump today. Of course, they won't close the malls so my SO has to go to work. Ugh.

<Of course, they won't close the malls so my SO has to go to work.>
This is where I would call in and let them know I'm not risking my life, particularly for a job at the mall. Police officers, nurses, doctors, etc perhaps but people who work or shop at the mall....uh...no.

Hey Shelley,

I am right there with you...We are getting the heavy flakes, had the freezing pellets already... don;t you love Lake Effect snow!}(

Deb

Ditto what Deb said!

DE could not find his news paper this morning. The plow shoved it far into a snow/ice bank. He is out driving to by one! But he offered to put gas in my car ~ I love that guy.

Okay...ShovelMax part 1 is complete. I went the manual route because it wasn't *too* bad, more drifting than accumulation. I just couldn't bring myself to spark up the snowblower at 9:00 on a Sunday morning, I don't want to be THAT person. I sure feel refreshed and pumped now....Sooo Shelley, how's it going on your side of the Lake?

Take Care
Laurie:)

Hey Laurie!

It's a mess here! I did Shovelmax part 1 this morning too, to get rid of the ice pellets layer. Now it's POURING snow and doesn't look to be letting up anytime soon. Doesn't look like they've touched the highway.

What doesn't sound fun is whatever crappy weather you get...always ends up in my neck of the woods! Wahhhhh! I should check the weather forecast for the next couple of days, I bet there is nasty weather comming.
Lori:)

Lori - after it's done with us, it's heading to New England and the Maritimes, so I bet you're going to get it too! Good luck!

*DING* Round 2 of ShovelMax is done. I used my new snowblower as much as I could but it mostly blew back into my face and on the driveway so I busted out the shovel. By the time I finished the end I could have started back at the beginning. I'm supposed to go to a Christmas part that I've really been looking forward to but I'm not sure now:( I was actually thanking Cathe while shovelling for my strong arms, abs and back!

Take Care
Laurie

Laurie, we must be on the same schedule, because I just finished round 2 as well! Even though I already shoveled, there was another foot at least, more in some areas, and it's still coming down.

Yay for (not-quite) winter in Canada!

Holy crap!!! Round 3 is DONE, for a MINUTE!!! Okay Shelley, how much peanut butter do we need to replace all of these burned calories!!}( :9 :+ For once, the weatherguy was bang on...a pox on the weatherguy!!x( :p

>Yay for (not-quite) winter in Canada!< :(, I was thinking that the other day while driving in a icy blizzard....winter hasn't even started yet. Perhaps this means spring starts March 1st....yeah right....

Take Care
Laurie

Round 1 of 1 Snowblower max. 10 horsepower, heated handles, 6 speed forward, 2 speed reverse. Clearing up snow is fun.
