Does Bandage adhesive get old & Toxic??

Cathlete
I had a bump removed from my thigh and used an extra large bandage with soft flex material for 24hrs and it literally ate the skin off on the edges of the bandage.

I've never been allergic to bandages and am wondering is it because the bandages were old or did I just become allergic.

Looked like I had the flesh eating virus going on at the perimeter of the bandage. Ewww

Holy moly you should go call your Dr. Esp if it smells bad or if you have a fever. Hope everything works out okay.

I don't THINK it goes funky, but I could be wrong. Maybe its just a reaction to the stickiness and the heat outside. The plastic bandanges can cause me to sweat and it gets hot under there. Maybe its just a bit of heat rash from your skin not being able to breathe. If I leave sticky bandages on for a while, sometime I get a little pink or red, and sometimes little bumpies, esp when its hot out.

Also, when I had knee surgery, I had my knee taped for PT and that stuff was like super glue sticky. The tape didn't eat my skin off, but it ripped off when I yanked the tape off (slow and steady would have been better) I had been sweaty and showered and it had gotten wet, etc, so the skin was prob a bit weak under there and when I tore it off, it took the skin, too. Maybe that's what happened? Looked a bit like road rash. Maybe put some neosporin on it, and keep an eye on it. If it spreads or gets hot, or you start to feel unwell, call the Dr.
