Does anyone scrapbook?

Hi all,

I've just been to a beginners scrapbooking class. As I love taking photographs and different types of papers, it would be perfect. However I'm just fazed by all the different types of paper, layout and embellishments - I think I am officially intimidated!

Does anyone have any tips for rank beginners? I want to do a Cathe style fitness page one day!

cheers
Liz

I have been scrapbooking for 6 years and I love it. I used to buy things at scrapbook stores, but I have been using only Creative Memories for 5 years. Everthing goes together and the idea materials show you how to use them. They are more expensive, but I can use them more efficiently, so I save money in the long run.

Tips - keep it simple. When you first start, you will want every page to be a work of art. Sometimes the decoration gets too fancy and takes away from the photos.

Don't get stuck on the perfect page.

Buy only what you need, when you need it. Fun things that you don't need at the time pile up and never get used.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.....scrapbookers are lots of fun.

Hi Liz,

I agree with what Melissa said. I have been scrapbooking, mostly creative memories as well, for about 4 years. I absolutely have a wonderful time working on it. Don't stress too much about it. This is something that you should enjoy doing. Maybe just concentrate on one page at a time. After you get a few under your belt, the ideas will just come naturally. Fortunately I have cousins that scrapbook and have been for a lot longer than I have, so I just pour through their books for ideas. Remember, you are creating a lifetime of memories.

Have Fun

Oh! You are going to LOVE this hobby! Check out the latest Creating Keepsakes and Scrapbooks, etc. magazine. I have some layouts published in those. My favorite papers are KI Memories. I looe the bright colors and Junkitz products go well with them. Here's a website with lots of ideas, a message board and store. I'll send you the link to my pages, too.

I recently went to a weekend scrapbook retreat - it was all CM people. I was able to do 100 pages in a weekend!!! That's how easy and fun it is. Thye now call me president of the Century Club.

don't get addicted!!!

I started a few years ago, with creative memories as well and LOVE scrapping whenever I get a chance. I buy stickers elsewhere too, I really like the new Archivers store in our area, check to see if you have any scrap book stores or search for a CM consultant on the CM website. Going to a crop is a great way to pick up new ideas, preserve your memories and have fun at the same time. I just completed 2 ABC books for my nephew and godson, they're little books decorated appropriately for each letter and the boys can add decorations, stickers or pictures...there are just so many things you can do!
but I do believe in the CM "motto"-simple pages=finished pages!
you can get too caught up in all the embellishments, some are great but too busy isn't always good. and the nice thing about the newer adhesives and albums, you can usually add to or change pages later is you want!
good luck and have fun!

RE: don't get addicted!!!

I started to scrap book and bought all kinds of books and stuff and now I have a huge box full of stuff that I am just going to give away to some serious scrap booker or another beginner.
