I am really confused! I had the Medgem test done because I am having a lot of trouble stabilising my weight. I need to be in 3 digits to be healthy (I am 5ft 3") so I decided to find out what my RMR was in order to determine my caloric needs. I was kind of hoping that my RMR would high as it would have explained why I seem to eat so much!Inspite of the fact that I have recently built a visible amount of muscle my RMR was only 940. I was told 1300 was all I needed to 'maintain' my weight with exercise (you apparently multiply your RMR by 1.4 if you are active). I've done the 1300 cal thing before and life was pretty grim. I am currently eating as intuitively as possible and that normally takes me anywhere b'ween 1600 - 2200 cals per day depending on what I'm doing. I have so far been maintaining b'ween 100 - 102lbs on this. Why does science conflict with what my body is telling me? Apparently Medgem is error proof. Does anyone know why this could be - particularly fitness professionals out there who are using this device for clients? Has anyone else had this test done and found it accurate for their caloric needs?
