Does anyone have the total gym?

I have a knockoff type. It is called Powerglide plus by Brenda Dygraf and HSN. It is JUNK. All anyone needs are free weights. There are a few decent machines at the gym, such as the leg press, lat station and the captains chair. Remember its a infomercial!! Save your money for more cathe dvds!!!! I have a friend who has a bowflex. She loves it but paid $1500.00 for it. The total gym on the infomerical is about $1000.00, i think!!! See what everyone else has to say, but I don't think it is benefical. take care. joanna33

My husband ordered a Total Gym. There are different versions - ours is one of the cheaper models.

Hubby used it alot at first and really seemed to like it. Like so many folks, he's gradually lost interest and never touches it now, but that's just the way he is with exercise in general.

I've used it some and have found it to be very effective on most upper body exercises. I don't use it for lower body. The leg exercises seemed awkward to me. Free weight work - lunges, squats - just works better, IMHO.

I'd love to have a Bowflex, but the price is too high for us.

My experience with the TG goes back 10 years or so when my ex-husband got one. I happen to like it, and know they use them for rehab. My current significant-other was in rehab for knee replacement therapy, and the rehab place had TG's for the clients.

I had a Total Trainer which I got on e-bay and it's very similar, but a much better deal moneywise ($300.00). You can add weight to it, and I happen to like it. It folds up, which is an important feature for any equipment I consider.
