I got a puppy pug, she is adorable, can you tell me how is your pug? personality? etc etc,,, I need some advice,,, like, should I let her sleep in my bedroom? she is sleeping in the kitchen confined, I am afraid to make a mistake, thou it breaks my heart to hear the whining specially at nites, if I leave her alone in the house for a few hours, I know she is going to be fine and for her safety is better to be confined. HELP!!!!!! I have read about pugs, but I need testimonials, thanks!!!

I have a male pug. He is really adorable but incredibly needy in a social sense. We have a crate for him and that's where he sleeps (crate training is recommended no matter what the breed; it helps to keep puppies out of trouble and also is invaluable for housebreaking). If you get her a crate and make sure it's comfy and includes a blanket and a toy or two, she should be fine.

I would suggest you look around for some obedience classes, or someone who can help you out a bit. Pugs are very cute but very stubborn!

Good luck!!

Hi Norma,

Include her in the family. She is just an infant, and needs someone to cuddle with. Also lots of play time with all kinds of toys just for her. Give her as much love as you possibly can at this stage. She will be a great little dog when she grows up.

My little dog knows she is special, and when I bring her a gift, she knows it is hers, and dances all around the house until she gets it. We go out walking (she out walks me) and do family things (she loves being family). Yes she sleeps with me at night. But thats OK, she is part of the family. She slept with me when she was an infant, now she has this beautiful basket inclosed bed, that she loves. I brought it home as a gift one day, and she loves it, especially on hot days. She still climbs up on the bed for petting and reassurance, but she now knows that is where she sleeps.

Take care of her, pets are great companions,
Janie

I don't have a pug -- but used to have a bulldog (she lived to be almost 14!). Does your puppy have a crate? A crate kinda functions as their "den" and they'll learn to feel secure and safe there. When she's older, of course, you can decide if you'd like her to sleep w/you. (Whenever my DH went away on biz, I'd let our bulldog sleep on the bed w/me -- but boy did she snore!!!)

I have a pug, I got him when he was 6weeks old, and now he is almost 10 years old...in april. He is a sweet heart but he can be a little "stuck up" toward others. I've never crate trained and he has always slept with me. Sometimes he will get up at night and go get a drink or chew a bone, but most of the time he sleeps pretty good. He hardly ever barks and likes to play but I would not consider him a hyper dog. He is always a good greeter but is starting to have trouble hearing. You will love her, they always know who they belong too. best of luck

Yes, I have a pug, & his middle name is Satan. :p

He is crate trained & I keep him there when I'm not at home. But he does sleep w/me--he's so warm & cuddly it's just like having a teddy bear w/a heart beat.

I have to admit I am not good a disciplining him (or my other dog for that matter). He definitely thinks he's the alpha in the house & I don't do much to discourage it. Of course, being a 38 YO woman w/o kids doesn't help--the little brat is spoiled rotten & I don't mind a bit.

I guess it all depends on what kind of dog you want. I've never been a tough disciplinarian w/any of my dogs--of course up until I got Max I had retrievers, & they're so eager to please they're very little trouble. Max has definitely been the most difficult of my dogs to train, & the perennially concerned look on his face doesn't help much. :+

Either way, they're like little comic book characters & I love the little guy to death. :)

Thanks for sharing your pug stories with me,,, I am very please with her, its only been a week and boy she follows me eeeeeeeeverywhere, kind of annoying sometimes since I want to change clothes all alone, she whines to enter my bedroom, and I feel violated hahahahaha. but she is sleeping in my bedroom, I put a dog bed for her in the corner so i can keep an eye on her, and she loves it, and the company is good too. thanks all,
Norma
