I just opened mine and loaded and can't seem to get it right. All I hear is fuzz/static and none of the songs I uploaded. Customer service is already closed and i want to swim with it tomorrow am

My DH has one. You will not be able to hear it properly out of the water. It will always sound fuzzy in the air. It needs to be submerged to sound good. That said, you should still be able to make out what song is playing, even if it sounds weird.

One thing to make sure of: open windows explorer and check to make sure that all of the files are in the correct format, which I think has to be mp3. If there is a file format in there that it doesn't recognize, it will make the whole thing error out. (For example an itunes m4a file or something like that. I don't know about the current generation of players, but my husband's will only play mp3s, not wma or any other format.)

I would take it to the pool and try it before calling customer service about the fuzzy sound. (There might still be something wrong with it but at least you can tell them that you tried it underwater.)

HTH!

thanks-- I figured it out last night after googling swimp3 and looking at the song files. I am new to my ipod and itunes. So I had no idea that itunes' songs were "protected" in that you can only play them on apple equipment. So, I had to change them to mp3 format before the swimp3 could recognize them. Once I figured that out, it was just a matter of changing them to mp3 format. I did this by burning the songs to a cd them uploading the cd into itunes and clikcing "convert to mp3" (one by one) then dragging each song into the swimp3 "folder". It was a real pain but sooooo worth it when I did my swim this morning. I worked my butt off.

thanks. I really like it too. I love to swim and the music is just great to get me going (since I swim first thing in the morning now). I know I am working hard, but I wish I had some guage as to how many calories I am burning. I put it in a calorie calculator today (that supposedly tells you how many calories you burn on various exercises) and it said I only burned 220 (and that is for 55 minutes of swimming). I can't possibly see how it could be that low but I don't know how to estimate better. I did a variety of things -- sprints, just kickboard, just arms (with pull buoy between my legs), different strokes, etc. I was very hot when I came out of the water and I had to work to catch my breath several times so I am pretty sure I would have been soaked if it were an out of the water workout. (can you tell I am trying to justify eating a snack right now ; )

I wonder which heart rate monitors are waterproof? I'm sure there's one out there. That would be the best way to tell how hard you're working and how many calories you burn.
