Do you typically gain weight in the winter?

Just curious, since the standard winter-is-coming-here-come-the-pounds articles are starting to make their annual appearance....

So what's the verdict?

If you do, why do you suppose that is?

If you don't, why not?

i typically do during the winter. nothing to outrageous sometimes between 5-10 pounds. usually b/c something is always interuppting my workout time. kid/hubby sick,kid/hubby home to much from snows days and holidays. the holiday food now 2 families have to share us so i don't even want to know how bad it could get LOL.more often then not its my eating that ruins it b/c i do my best with workouts by spliting up day and night but the stress of holidays,sick days,snow days just has me reaching for the candy instead of the apples.

It's funny because I usually lose weight during the winter. Probably all the running around & shopping for the holidays. I usually tend to gain a little weight during the summer months w/ all the bbq's and fluid retention.
 
You know, I guess I gain a couple of pounds. I notice that in the spring when I get to run outside more I lose some chub in my thighs (that I never even saw appear!) but I don't ever need to buy new clothes, and you really can't tell.

I only gain weight in the winter nowdays if I workout less or change my way of eating. It's easier to skip workouts (I workout late afternoon) when it's already dark out, so I have to motivate myself a bit more.

I've heard that most folks gain 5-10 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year's, but that's partly because they eat like proverbial pigs during that time!
 
I actually usually lose during the winter because I retain water really bad in hot weather. Plus I don't eat a lot of the pies and cakes offered at the holidays.
 
I do. For some reason once the holiday's hit I lose all self control! I then take off any of the gain after the new year.

No, I usually lose weight during the winter.
In the summer monthes, there are more parties, drinks in general and laid back days.But I hate the winter, so I don't go out very much and I workout instead:)

I may do a couple of pounds simply because in the summer I am outside being active more often, beyond my scheduled workouts. In the summer DH and I will often go for a walk/hike/bike ride in the evening. Can't do "extras" like that in the winter, really. Not as much as we'd like to, anyway. But the pounds drop off like butter once the nice weather kicks in again, so I have no worries about it.

I chub up a little in the summer - oh those tasty beers by the BBQ. I also have a hard time staying inside with Cathe and want to be out swimming and enjoying the weather, which doesn't burn enough calories.

Oh those summer cobblers!

In the winter Cathe and I get along just fine, so I lose it quickly.

Typically no, except for last winter, soon after my son was diagnosed with a dysfunction. But that was emotional eating, and as soon as I figured that out, I was able to lose what I gained. That was an exception.

I usually lose more weight in the winter. I agree with all the BBQ comments, but for me it's thinking that I'll be able to play tennis or golf in the afternoon so I'll skip the morning workout. If it's crummy I usually end up doing something else besides working out!

I tend to loose in the winter and gain a little in the summer. I suffer from seasonal allergies that bother me more in the summer months (absolutly cannot handle fresh mown lawns!!), also, I don't like the heat and humidity of Ohio summers. Once fall comes I start spending a lot more time outdoors. Our winters aren't that bad either.

I stay the same weight all year round, no matter what I eat. As long as I exercise, I never gain. However, I eat pretty healthy. After having kids, I've been the same weight for 8 years.
 
Nope, I don't gain weight in the winter because my habits do not change through out the year. My eating is the same as is my exercise routine, therefore, no weight gain for me! :)
I am not drastically more/less active in summer/winter so that change of activity doesn't affect me either...
 
I'm not sure that I could say with certainty that I'm discriminating against any season at all!

Problem, I know.

I tend to gain some weight in the winter due to the fact I lift weights more, and do cardio less...DH is off in the winter, and thinks I look like a "floppin' crappy" doing step...SO, most cardio in the winter revolves around shoveling snow (and that's been pretty hopeless the past couple of years) and walking the dog...I DO have a treadmill this winter, so that should help!
