Do you remember....

Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, or Anne of the Island? I was online looking for books to get the kids for Christmas and I came across Anne again for the first time since I was 12. I can't believe that I had forgotten about her! She was one of my favorite characters growing up, with her fiery temper and spunk, that red hair. I am thinking that this is a must have for DD! Do they still write books like this for kids? What else would you recommend?

I highly recommend Anne of Green Gables. I loved that book! The PBS adaptation is wonderful if you're looking to buy the DVD.

Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite books from childhood, right after the "Little House" series, which I confess I still have and read once a year, usually when I am stressed out. :)

ETA: what about Harriet the Spy? that was fun as well!

I live 20 minutes from Green Gables. I believe yesterday was Lucy Maude Montgomery's birthday. I grew up with everything Anne, the stories are wonderful.

My sister(28) just finished all of the Narnia books and really liked them. I'm thinking about purchasing them today(you can get them all together in one book).
