Do you get allergy symptoms during w/o?

When my heartbeat goes up and I'm breathing harder, my nose becomes stuffed; making it difficult to breathe through the nose. The first couple of times this happened, I didn't want to stop and find a tissue. By the end of the w/o, my ears were clogged and took forever to pop. I've also noticed that when I jog/walk my thighs get itchy. I haven't noticed that yet with Cathe's low impact step. Maybe I will later with the more advanced dvds. Is this my lymph system flushing out (toxins?) or could it be allergies? I don't take any preventative medicines for allergies. Although, I frequently take Sudafed Sinus (the good stuff from the pharmacy). I'm wondering if I should take a couple Sudafeds prior to exercising. Anyone else experience this?

In regards to your thighs itching when you run/walk. Someone(I think on this board but it may have been elsewhere) once explained what causes that. Something having to do with the capilliaries becoming irritated--I know, I explained that really well.;-) It, apparently, is quite common and usually occurs during the cold weather months.

I have horrible allergies, not sure to what though. I have found that often doing a workout temporarily relieves them not makes them worse.

Sounds like sinuses draining.

Instead of Sudafed (why take drugs if you don't have to?), you might consider trying nasal irrigation: rinsing the sinuses out with a neti pot (looks like a small, squat, ceramic tea pot with a long spout and no top) filled with water and non-iodized salt. It helps rinse out excess mucus, and also flushes out pollen and other allergens.

I'll have to look into getting a neti pot. I've never heard of them. Normally, I only take Sudafed when I get throbbing sinus headaches. Usually that happens right before it rains or snows. Weird, huh. My dh also commented that it might be from remodeling our kitchen. It's difficult to contain all the dust particles. Too bad dust bunnies don't hop away. :)

They are originally from India, but I saw some in Walgreen's just the other day, so they aren't as 'out there' as they used to be.

Neti Pots are WONDERFUL for allergies. If you have a hard time finding them, try a health food store.
