Do you ever feel guilty about not working out????

:) Hi gang! Since I started up my workout routine about a month ago, I have been working out faithfully for 6 days a week. To tell you the truth, tonight I am pooped and am feeling guilty about not working out. I work a full-time job, and I got to bed later than usual last night and on top of that we had a thunderstorm last night that woke me up. I just can't find the strength or enthusiasm to do workout tonight. I usually look forward to sharing my evenings with Cathe!:-(

I wouldn't feel guilty. 6 days a week is a lot, especially if you are working FT. 4-5 days is sufficient. I think rest days are important.

Go to bed.. you'll get nothing accomplished by trying to work out when you are exhausted. Tomorrow is another day and you'll be stronger for listening to your body. :)

I skipped today slept in and was tired and had to pick my truck up at the shop tonite,
I seem to have better rsults lately when i take a break. I gain some strength.
DON"T FEEL GUILTY!
I Know i do too!!!
Oh well.
We will survive.

sure, many times, but I tell you, 6 days a week is nothing to sneeze at. I'm lucky if I get a consistent 3-4 days a week since I have a toddler. I know keeping up with this forum can really bring out the compulsive qualities in a lot of us - especially with all of the amazing working out going on here. Just try to relax and cut yourself a break if you are tired. Your body has to have some way to tell you ;)

I feel incredibly guilty if I skip a workout. I take one day off a week, but try not to skip any. I know you shouldn't feel bad but I do unfortunately. I just know that I always always feel better after i do it, eve if it is just a little.

I really used to feel guilty also. But then I realized if I didn't skip a w/o when I was feeling that way down the roaod it would be worst where I would end up missing more and more w/o's due to tired body. So don't fret you will be stonger and more ready the next day!:)

This is why I rarely take rest days. And yes, I KNOW that I should. I KNOW that it's good for me. But the guilt is overwhelming. I'm working on it, but yes, I feel horribly guilty if I don't work out and the guilt is worse than the exhaustion, so there you go.

Right, Terri?;)

I do feel very guilty when I take an unplanned rest day. I usually try to double up sometime later if I have to. I usually work out 6 days a week also.

I think for me the guilt comes from being overweight before. I'm terrified of getting back to where I was.

I've gone through that but look at it this way, if you push yourself too hard you could end up hurting your body and not being able to work out at all. Six days a week is nothing to frown upon, listen to your body, if it needs rest take it.

:)

I agree. I used to feel VERY guilty about missing a workout, but life's complicated as it is, and the guilt only complicates it more.

Now that I'm lifting heavier than I ever dreamed, I need more time to recover. Skipping cardio or circuits isn't so hard to do anymore.

Working out is just a PART of my life, not the be all and end all of my world. I can tough it out on my exercise floor, but I'd like to tough it out even HARDER with everything ELSE. Priorities and all...:)

I used to feel terribly guilty if I missed a planned workout. I've since gotten over that because I've made great gains even though from time to time I've had to skip some workouts here and there.
I do start to feel really lazy though if I have 2 days off in a row of no activity. I take the weekends off from Cathe workouts, but I still like to do something active like go for a long walk, bike ride, or a great hike. If I don't get that in, that's when I start thinking about how my butt is expanding, and my arms are turning into "pig arms"(as my sister says), and how I'm getting a double chin, etc, etc, etc.x(
I guess we all have our weird issues!

Oh, Carolyn, you are brutal to yourself! Your butt is perfect and you have great arms and a single lovely chin and that's with o without the activity but it's great that you do one of those things. They sound so relaxing and wonderful.

I inherited my issues from my lovely mother, who now that I think of it, is brutal on herself too. What scares me is I don'f find my issues weird. I find them quite normal.

Thanks Bobbi!!:)
I think I might have inherited my issues from my mom as well. She's always down on herself and that stuff can just be contangious don't you think?
