do you count terminator workouts as interval workouts?

Hi ya all, and especially all of you that have the Terminator DVD. I was just wondering, I've been trying to fit in 1-2 interval workouts per week, and I find the Terminator workouts are so demanding, that I seldom seem to have the energy for another interval workout if I do more than one Terminator per week. How about everybody else?

I'm just wondering, I mean for example the Viper has "only" four intervals, but I still find it really tough. I find I need a light day after that workout, as I do after all the Terminator workouts. What do you usually do after the Terminator workouts? Weights or cardio? Day off?

Have a great day, everybody,

Maria

Maybe I am not the appropriate person to answer because I am a terminator junkie. My favourite is the gaunlet. In a week I can do two terminator workouts. It is tired but deserve the time. After a terminator I usually do a weight workout.I like to mix the upper body premix of ME with the pyramids lower body.

Maria, IMO the Terminator workouts to me are a bit more like Circuit workouts. Imaxes are more like intervals especially Blastmania on the Imax2/Cardio & Weights DVD. The day after I do one of the Terminator workouts is usually a cardio day for me. After doing Blastmania....I lay down and crash! :+ :7 }( .....:)...Carole

I am inclined to agree with Carole. I max extreme is the closest to being an interval workout. The viper and gauntlet are circuits. Even I Max Extreme seems lighter than just doing I Max2 because you get the C&W parts that are a break from the higher intensity stuff. Still I do love all of these workouts.

Hi,

thanks for your thoughts. Yes, I suppose the Gauntlet and the Viper are more like circuit workouts. Maybe I should try doing one of the imaxes anyway, it is true that they feel tougher in the sense that you don't get breaks like you do in the terminator workouts. Anyway, I suppose they all have their own ways of being hard, and variety is the key...;)

enjoy,

Maria

I count them as interval workouts because if you're giving the blasts all your effort, you will be working anaerobically (sp?). There are longer periods between the blasts in these workouts, but that doesn't detract from the fact that you're following an interval pattern of "blast" and "recuperate". The longer recuperation period should mean that you should work even harder during the blasts }( As well, Gauntlet has all those BootCamp cardios in there, which are very intense, as well. I wouldn't call those a recuperation period at all! The day after a Terminator workout I like to either do a steady state cardio, possibly non-step, or a weight workout.

When I first got the Terminator, I did one workout a day, for three consecutive days. Now THAT tired me out! I've never tried that again.

Cheers,
Sandra

Hi Sandra,

Three Terminators in a row!!! Woooo! I have to agree with you too, you do get anaerobic, definitely, and especially the Gauntlet is really tough with the BC cardio added to the imaxes (and like you said, especially since there isn't a break between those!). I also think that how much effort you put into a specific workout makes the biggest difference of them all. And sometimes you have it and can push really hard, sometimes it's just not there. It's amazing how different the same workout can feel depending on how you happen to be feeling that day.

Anyway, thanks for your thoughts and enjoy your week,

Maria :)
