Do you consider yourself high maintenance?

I try to be high maintenance without drawing too much attention....

I spend plenty of money on skin care, make up and hair color & styling ONLY so I can get ready quickly and feel good about myself. I don't wear high heels except to funerals, my jeans are tight when I'm not carefully watching my food/exercise and I treat myself to an occasional mani/pedi. And a massage is the ultimate!

So, I'd like to think of myself as LM but it's probably more realistic to think I'm HM, but not the bitchy kind!

I was about to say, YES, definitely getting high maintenance...then I read a couple replies and realized I'd have to define "high maintenance". I don't wear make-up (hard to put on when you can't see without glasses) and forever forget perfumes. With a good cut, my naturally curly hair really doesn't require that much attention (except a good shampoo/conditioner along with the good cut); but I'm not a natural blonde:). I wear jeans everywhere I can, and even if I have to dress up, I try to keep it simple.

Where I'm high maintenance is the meds and vitamins I'm more dependent on then when younger; my diet requires more monitoring and I have to work harder at keeping fit (thank God I love working out:)). Since my joints are stiffer now, that's another issue.

So on one hand, I'm really high maintenance...otoh, I'm very low maintenance:)

Lydia - I'm kind of high maintenance diet-wise too. There are many, many things I can't eat because I don't digest them properly and end up in excruciating pain. So when I go to a restaurant, I'm a bit like Sally from When Harry Met Sally. "On the side" is a big thing with me;)

Ha! I'm popping in to say YES! And you love me for it!:p

I can be VERY high maintainence, but even if i am dressed to the 9's it only takes me 30 mins:) I go lots of places without makeup, but if i break a nail, i will absolutely go get if fixed immidiately. I love heels and own tons of them, but i am sensible enough to know when they are appropriate.

Before I had my children NO WAY! But that being said I did not have much self esteem. Since having children I grew my hair out I do have my hair colred every 4-5 weeks (my friend charges me $30.00 for everything) I have started paying attention to what I wear I do not go out at all to wear fancy clothes but I do own heels that I will wear in the spring and fall. I tan once a week. I wear clinique makeup I use Cetaphil for my skincare. I LOVE PURSES every season Kohls, JC Penny or Burlinton COat Factory and T.J. Max. I love jewelry to match my clothes but simple and inexpensive. I do feel since I have gotten older I look in the mirror and I LOVE who I am and how I look for 35. It has taken me many years to feel BEAUTIFUL and I want my girls to have that from little on CONFIDENCE I did not have that from my mom. I am simple inexpensive maintenence.

Not at all... I haven't worn make-up in YEARS and love to be in "comfy" clothes anytime I am not at work!

Now, when it comes to my food I guess I am. I eat "healthy" most of the time & when they order in pizza, etc... at the office I never eat it and still eat the lunch I take. I get looks all the time and people say, "oh Jen can't eat it, it has fat in it" but doesn't bother me!

So, I would say no!

Yes and no.

Not a camper. Don't leave the house without at least eyeliner, concealer (dark circles) and blush or I look like death warmed over.

Before kids I would take an hour to get ready. My routine has become very efficient over the years. In a pinch, I can go from wet hair right out of the shower to fully dressed, makeup and hair done in 15 minutes - 15 very FRANTIC minutes! :7 My norm is about 25-30 minutes.

I hate high heels. Hard to believe I used to wear nylons and heels to work for years. I love my Lands End Comfort Mocs - they feel like I'm walking on pillows. As far as clothes, I rank comfort almost more important than price (to a point, of course).

I like getting my nails and toenails done but I don't have them regularly done.

Well, yes and no. I'm very fussy with my hair, I go to one place for the color, and to another place for the cut. I like nice French pedicures and massages. My latest gift to myself is a series of private lessons at a close by new pilates studio. :) I'm very fussy with foods too. But I don't care too much about clothes, I care more what I put into my clothes! Make up is a hit or miss, 5 minutes applications for me...

When it comes to getting ready or spending money on myself- NO way. I don't do my nails (I have long, but never polished fingernails that I just file & shape). I do hate breaking a nail just because they seem to snag on anything but a quick file will take care of that. My makeup maybe takes 5 minutes & my hair is so curly that I just put in some gel/anti-frizz & air dry. I am usually in jeans & t-shirts or comfy workout gear. ;-) High heels- what's that??? And tight jeans- never! Add me to the lower rise/ bootleg jeans list... you'll never catch me in a pair of those skinny jeans!

But... when it comes to working out/ eating then I *am* high maintenance. I'm like Shelley- everything is on the side & I'm very picky when I eat out (which is part of the reason I don't enjoy eating out that often!).

So... in some ways I'm not high maintenance & in other ways I am!

Oh, and we go camping a lot in the summer. I don't mind going w/out makeup & can live happily as long as I can take a shower & have a bathroom, although we have done the *rustic* camping before too! I don't enjoy that so much!! :p

Hi there- I would have to say I am low maintenance- I don't wear makeup because I never learned how to put it on and now it looks like it takes so much time and I cut my nails short-but I do wish I could present myself in a more "put together" way when I go out-I wear sweats to the store too (just yesterday in fact) and I looked down and my sweatshirt is 3 sizes too big but I'm comfortable-sometimes I wish I took more care with how I look and now that I'm looking for employment I guess I'll have too--deb

LOL. Great question and responses. I'm so low maintenance that I've been known to show up to places with no bra on! LOL. Mind you, nobody else knows it but me....but STILL! And like many of you, my eating is high maintenance. Plain everything...no condiments at all!

Just Plain Jane here!

NO!!!!!Some of my jeans(mens, not tight!) have holes in them and they are my favorites! And makeup- whats that?! Would that include my chapstick? then, yes, I wear makeup;-)

It does take me about an hour to get "ready" - but that's mostly because I lose my focus and start wandering around. I've been known to go grocery shopping without showering. I'd go in my pajamas if I didn't think people would assume I had escaped the mental hospital. There are SOME places I won't go without making myself look decent. But if I'm doing stuff around the house and suddenly notice we've got nothing to eat, I'm not going through the whole routine just to come back home and start cleaning again.

>No, I'm low maintenance, probably too low maintenance.

I think I am too low maintenance also. I own the makeup, but don't put it on. I have no patience to do my hair. I like it when my nails are done, but do not have the patience to sit there to keep on them. And my favorite clothes are workout clothes.
:) Or my pj's since I can workout in them also. ;-) ( I wear a uniform 5 days a week).
