Do Something Nice Challenge - 4/5/05

OK - My "nice thing" for today actually does have a little bit of an ulterior motive, but they usually do (makes us feel good).

I just spend the last 3 hours figuring out a way to build a Microsoft Access macro that would allow me to automatically generate and email 30+ managers a personalized report for their departments that they have wanted, but would be quite time-consuming for me to deliver. It's always been kind of a "too bad, so sad" that they don't get it each week.

No one asked me to find a way, I just figured it would be a nice tool for them that I know they want.

My ulterior motive...I learned how to do somthing new in MS Access.

Donna, I once took a job as a temp programming Access databases and spent the entire first day reading "Access for Dummies." LOL

My good deed of the day: a friend of mine needed a ride home from a dr's appt, so I left work at an awkward hour, made the hour round trip to pick him up and drop him at home, then came back and had to park in Siberia on the far end of the campus... they should run shuttle buses!

PS: I sure hope I can remember where my car is when I leave later. We have six parking lots and I can't remember now which one I parked in! I will have to retrace my steps, starting with which elevator I came up, which door I entered....

We had a parking lot we called Siberia when I went to Alfred State College way back in the 80's. Funny how that name catches on for parking lots, eh?

Ok, my nice thing for the day was going over to FIL's house and chatting with his houseguests. i was very polite and they are pretty cool. they are from Jersey. The hard part was being nice to FILx(

This is a good idea for a challenge!

On another board I frequent, a girl asked if someone would read her essay for a class and correct the grammar. So, I volunteered.

Will we be doing this again tomorrow lol?
