I just bought 2 new DVD's. Power Hour+(also as MIS and Body Max on it) and Cardio Kicks and Circuit Max. I went through the rotations I could find and most include a lot of Pure Strength Series. As you know I just dished out $100.00. What is the benefit of having the Pure Strength series also? I have to slow down on the money spending or there will be a divorce. (Just kidding ha ha) But you get the picture.

Thanks for all the input,
Christi

Oh I forgot to tell you. I also have the CTX series though they aren't as convenient to use as the DVD's. I still love them and could use them also.

Well, Body Max, CTX, and Power Hour are all endurance type workouts. If you are new to strength training, you will get strength gains, but if you're an int/adv weight trainer, then they will primarily improve your endurance levels. MIS is a great strength tape and one you can really grow with. I remember thinking Cathe was psychotic for using 35 lbs for all of the sections, but now I can do that too! However, I am firm advocate of varying your weight training. Your muscles will adapt to the exercises if you don't change them. PS is great, but I understand that you just spent a lot of money. Why not do a combo of the tapes you already have for awhile, and ask for PS for Christmas? Also, for CTX, you can increase the weight and do the exercises at half the tempo Cathe does. This is very challenging! For example, instead of using 25 lbs for the 12 reps of bent over rows, I use 40 lbs and do 6 reps. The biceps will have you burning if you increase the poundage! (Hey, if you wait until Christmas, you could ask for PS and the Intesity Series!) Have fun!

I bought me a chep barbell with weights and I HATE it. When I do upright rows my elbows hit the weights. Also I have 2 10lb weights on each side and need more, but all they have to offer next is 8lbs on each side. OOOFFF. I'm taking it back. Thats what I get for trying to go cheap. My step also isn't long enough and my head hangs off while we do bench press etc. I'm sure I look real comical working out. Glad I'm in my basement. Looks like time to shell out some cash on a real barbell and step.

Thanks again,
Christi

Christi-
Don't let your head hang off the step! It sounds dangerous. You're better off with a few pillows on the floor than a short step IMHO. I use chair cushions on the floor.

Exercise equipment expense

Hi Christi!
I know what you are saying when you try to watch what you spend and to be a smart consumer. Just to let you know I bought my step over 10 years ago and it is still in great shape and the same with my barbell set. So though you may spend more money up front than you would like it really does stand the test of time. Enjoy your exercising!
Peace, Ann
