Hi,

I have MIS and am probably going to buy Power Hour and the PS series, getting Circuit Max as my bonus tape. I have dumbells ranging from 3-35 pounds and do not want to spend more money ona barbell right now. Will my form be sacrificed? I have been an avid exerciser for 12 years now and know all the basics of body building.

If I were to eventually buy a barbell and set, which one is highly suggested and used most and where can I get the best deal on one?

Thanks so much,

KellyP

Hi, Kelly! Although no one HAS to do anything, I think you will get maximum results with the Cathe muscle conditioning workouts if you invest in one, especially if you want premium effectiveness for your leg workouts. Because the legs are capable of so much strength development, my guess is you will get to the point where your legs can take a lot more weight than your hands and forearms can handle, and that's where the barbell comes in: you carry the weight across the shoulders and down through the back, which is much easier. There may be others who disagree with me here, but I cannot imagine doing true leg strengthening with dumbbells only.

I have the Troy Lite system, which you can get through Fitness First (www.fitness1st.com, I think). The bar is nice, short and slim (good for small hands); it weighs 5 lbs, and can accommodate up to 80 lbs of weight plates. The plates for these are rubberized, and you can also get a neck pad to decrease the strain on the back of your neck when using it for squats and lunges.

Just my $.02 -

Hi Kelly! I agree with Annette that the barbell will enhance your results plus add a new dimension to your workouts to create better cross training effects for your muscles. I too suggest the troy barbell system. Good Luck!
