where it seems like no matter how much exercise you do you just cant get rid of some of your fat? I feel like I exercise hard 5x week and still have cellulite and stubborn fat that just wont budge. It's very depressing some days and there are a couple of girls at work that eat and eat and eat and dont exercise and they are so slim. It just gets to me some days. How do you deal with these feelings when they come up?

Laura - I have been struggling with my weight all my life, so I know exactly what you mean. I'm to the age where I can usually tell myself that life sucks and get over it. But, I've also come to realize that having to watch your weight and exercise is a blessing in disguise. I also at the age where a lot of my friends start to experience medical problems due to bad eating and exercise habits. I am in excellent health because I HAVE to eat well and workout in order to maintain.

This is how I feel about my backside..>EXACTLY! I looked at my DD's legs the other day in shorts and I don't understand how mine look worse and I work them hard! Sure, DD is years younger, but look at some of these other ladies here my age and older and they got it going on with rock hard legs! I want that too! So all I can say is that my body is still under contruction like many other bodies out there. Pay no attention to the ones eating the bad junk, it will catch up to them...that is why I have the problem I do, from it catching up with me when I use to eat bad....if I had to go back and change things, it would be the way I eat so now I have to undo what I did to myself from years of donuts and potato chips, etc.

Hi, I am going thru this right now. I have changed things up... adding alot of floorwork. I also have added the Slim Series...but I started gaining weight on that, so its back to some kind of cardio in the morning. When I get down about all my hard work and see all my lose skin and fat I email my fitness friend Sandy and she keeps me going. It has been very hard because I had to stop my intense cardio due to Arthritis. I do understand... try to keep your chin up!!! I also try to imagine what I would look like if I DID NOT exercise. Maybe find some new kinds of exercise you haven't done...Mix it up..keep the cardio going... Peggy

Have you seen that cholesterol commercial where the thin beautiful person falls to the floor? I think there is one on a red carpet and one with a guy in a pool. Anyway, the point of the commercial is to show that you can look spectacular on the outside and be sickly on the inside. In other words, thin does NOT equal healthy. I remind myself of this when I feel envious of naturally tiny people. They may be thin and not have cellulite, but their arteries could be full of plaque or have an immune system not capable of fighting disease. I always tell my daughter to exercise for health not for looks because hey, at 80, I don't think I'll be so concerned about a few bumps, but I will still exercise because it is fun and it contributes to my health.

thanks everyone. I know exercising is good for my body inside as well as outside and I have to remember that. It just is so hard some days when you feel you are working out so hard and nothing budges. I went from only running 1day a week,5miles to running 19miles a week and the scale hasnt budged and I am not eating any worse than I had been.actually not binging as much as I was and thought for sure running that much more a week would result in some weight coming off. my body just makes me feel like I am continously hitting a brick wall. the only time I see wt come off is after I have been sick for a few days and havent eaten anything. then I go into a wt lose frenzy and the wt stays off for months . I will think good thoughts ,at least try to. thanks again.

I hear you, Laura. I'm there too. But....I may not be where I want to be aesthetically, but I've got to say I AM in the best shape cardio and strengthwise of my life (I'm 47). My cycling ability is the best it's been in 6 years thanks to my Cathe workouts and that's pretty exciting to be able to keep up with people that used to drop me all the time on hill climbs.

I'm wanting to switch things up so am going to start the Slim Series next week, but intersperse Cathe cardio a few times a week and to help the boredom factor. My lower body is my problem (how can someone ride 100 miles on a bike and still have fat legs?) but the legs are a little firmer than they were before.

I'll never give up on this, but I do hear you with working so hard and no weight coming off. Water weight plays havoc with me too so I really watch the salt intake. Hormones too as my breasts are sore and it's not even TTOM.

However, I've got TONS of energy everyday! Woohoo!!!

Hang in there, Laura. I'm sure you are in super shape.

For me to be really lean my diet has to be absolutely impeccable. I believe that diet plays a larger role than exercise when it comes to leaning out. I learned this while recuperating from sugery. I was unable to exercise at all for 3 or 4 weeks. Wanting to recover ASAP and get back to my beloved running and lifting I made sure to keep my caloric intake in check and to eat only foods that had nutritional value. I was amazed at how much body fat I lost. I kept it that way for months. As soon as I introduced unclean food back into my diet I'm where I started before that. So, it's a question of do I want to constantly stand guard over every bite of food that goes into my mouth or do I want to relax and not worry about a bit more fat on my arse? It depends on my mood on any given day!:)

I've been following your questions and comments for some time now - and I MEAN THIS IN THE KINDEST WAY when I say that we've given you a lot of suggestions and hope that you seriously are committing to changing ESPECIALLY your eating habits. You can think your way to success, you know. Make up your mind that you WILL reach your goals and you're half-way there. Stop lamenting about your cellulite and stubborn fat, and focus more on the task at hand. JUST DO IT, in other words.
