Disneyland, California

I am planning a visit soon. Our group will be 3 adults and 2 children, ages 4 and 6. Any advice on special events or breakfast type things? I want to make sure to stay and see one of the parades, especially the Electrical parade, but only if the kids are up to it.

I haven't been to Disneyland since 1991, so it'll be pretty different, I'm sure. We are just planning to spend one day, so I don't have high expectations of seeing a million things, or packing it "all" in during one day.

Have you been recently? Can anyone offer any practical advice to make our trip more enjoyable (kid tips, planning advice, organization, things not to forget!!)? Thanks!
Jenn

Hi Jenn,

I went to Disney World about 2 1/2 months ago. I know you're asking about Disneyland. However, if you want to e-mail me I can try to help. I do know that the electric parade is gone now at DW. It's a new parade called the Spectra Magic parade. I'm not sure if that's the same at DL. There's a number I called to make all our character meal reservations. They were more than helpful. I hope I can help some.:)

Hi Jenn,

DH and I go to Disneyland often, but we don't have kids and usually stay 5 or so days. My advice for you is to visit the Disneyland forums at www.disboards.com and www.mouseplanet.com. At these websites you should find more than enough information for a great one day trip with your kids!

Hope you have a great trip!:)

Haven't been to Disneyland since 1984 but go to Disney World often. I second the vote to check out disboards.com ,it's a great website. Also try mousesavers.com Kim

Jenn-
DH and I are season ticket holders. No kids for us, so when we go we're there for ourselves, LOL.

We did the character breakfast at the Plaza Inn last time- it was great. TONS of food, and characters too. The line does go quickly, and they're pretty accurate when they tell you how long the wait is. To the right as you head towards Tomorrowland from Main Street.

The Electrical Parade is at Disney's CA Adventure Park, so if you want to catch that you'll have to purchase the park hopper ticket.

One day simply can't fit everything, LOL, but you know that! ;)

HAVE FUN!!! Feel free to PM me if you've got more questions.

Thanks for all the great ideas! I will check out those websites and get some more ideas!

My kids are so excited to see all the characters! Can't wait!

Thanks again!
Jenn

Go to Goofy's Kitchen for dinner. The characters come to your table for pictures and autographs. The food is good there as well. There is also Ariel's Grotto for dinner which we thought was O.K. It is nice for little girls because all the princesses come around. This way we just concentrated on the rides and the parades in the park instead of waiting in the long lines for the characters (unless it was a character you don't see often like Cruella or Mary Poppins.)

If the adults are interested in any of the rides that the children won't like, make sure to get the parent exchange passes from the worker where you enter the line. This way you only wait in line once.

In California Adventure, the Block Party Parade is alot of fun for the kids. They do alot of interaction with the children in that one.

I hope this helps.

Have fun.

we went last summer. Just a word of advice, do not go in June. June is when all the graduation and end of the year parties are there and it more crowed than usual. We are going next year but not until the end of the summer.
The roller coaster at Grand Advenuture is pretty fun!

Definitely don't miss out on California Adventure if you have your children.

I finally took my DH at 44 along with my teenagers. We enjoyed that side of the park nearly as much as the original. (We are great theme park fans, especially the large roller coasters which are at the original, but aren't quite as big as the other parks like Paramount).

Another fun thing they do is offer a breakfast with the characters.
That would be fun and if I am not mistaken, you get in a bit earlier than the general public.

Have a great time (from a born and raised Californian).
