Discrepancies Between WO Cards & 1RM Chart

I have most of my 1RM tests done and have entered all of the completed ones into the new WM. I checked the Disc 1 dropdown in the 1RM section and all are marked red (completed).

I decided to see how the workout card feature works and scheduled Disc 1 and looked at the card. There are exercises listed on Disc 1 that are not listed on the STS One Rep Max Chart (pdf). And when you go to the All Exercises listing in the 1RM section there is not even a picture.

An example of this is Exercise #239 Seated Curls Alternating + Both Arms (dumbbell), Seated. This is not listed on the STS One Rep Max Chart (pdf), yet is shown as an exercise on the workout card for Disc 1. There is another on that disc listing, as well. (And I am not talking about pushup variations that we're not doing 1RM testing on.)

Can you explain this? Or am I missing something obvious? It stands out particularly since there are no 60% of 1RM weight listings for those exercises on that day.

There will always be exercises listed in the workout cards that you don't see in the 1RM calculator. For example, band exercises, push ups, dips, pull ups. There are also weighted exercises like "#239 Seated Curls Alternating + Both Arms (dumbbell)", which you really can't take a 1RM test for since it is a superset of two exercises. For these exercises just manually type in the weight you want to use.

I understood about exercises like pushups and some band ones, so that was already clear to me. I was surprised to see weighted workouts listed with the emphasis on how important the 1RM testing is. Thank you for the response. Especially since it's so much later where you are than where I am!

Hi Nancy,

I went through the workout cards also I found many weighted exercises that were not on the 1rm chart. My plan is if they are similar to another 1rm in form then I will use a similar 1rm without testing more. I will probably end up testing a few exercises if I feel they are not similar. I still have not gotten my STS yet so thats the weekend plan.

Just curious if you experienced another issue. On many of my 1RM I had picked too light of weight and did more than 20 but less than 30 reps. On the previous version of 1rm it went up to 30 but now it only allows entry up to 20. I'm stuck as to whether I have to retest these 1rm. I hope not! Being relatively new to Cathe workouts, I kinda feel guilty asking questions about minor hiccups but I am just excited and want to make sure I am doing this right. As for me I think even with a few hiccups this is going to be by far the best program on the market as long as it does not kill me (lol).

Nancy, This is a reply I received from SNM. Hope it helps.

There will be some exercises that were listed incorrectly in the previous version of the WM. We had several cases where we had duplicate or wrong exercises with different exercises numbers etc. I think Squats was perhaps one of them. You will just need to transfer your results to the correct exercise. Also, some exercises that were previously listed don't really need to be tested and have now been removed from the 1RM calculator, but will still show on your card. You can fill these weights in manually

I remember reading at some point (but wouldn't know where to begin to try to find that particular thread) that the further away from 10-12 reps you get the more skewed your results will be. I re-tested on a number of exercises when my reps got to be more than 15 and I felt I could still do more.

Thanks for the info. I think this applied to the older version of the WM and I thought all of this has been fixed with the new release. I'll just go with the flow on it and pick the weight as I go on those exercises that are not showing up on the 1RM test chart.
